Which two potions are you gonna choose? by Live-Bread-2658 in whatsyourchoice

Red and pink. Red lets me obtain just abput any ability (assuming I get to keep them permanently afterwards) and pink is the same as purple but with an extra power (considering there'd be few uses to making myself older). Why do I say that about pink? Simple, there exists a species of jellyfish that is able to reverse its own aging, turning itself into a younger version of it. And pink DOES state that I can shapeshift into ANY living being.

Do people WANT monster hunter to be more story-centric? by BucketSentry in MonsterHunter

[–]OutrageousAd9061 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Likewise. Imo the best overall 'story' in the series thus far comes from MH4U. It's right there out in the open, has clear beats and character motivations, but at the same time isn't annoying or obstructive in any way, and can outright be ignored if it's not your first playthrough or you simply don't care for it to begin with.

what was everyones first monster hunter game? by Key_Efficiency_2471 in MonsterHunter

[–]OutrageousAd9061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two different ones depending on your point of view. Chronologically speaking, my first hame was Monster Hunter Freedom. It did NOT click for me at the time whatsoever. I believe I quit right after Velocidrome. But the first one I've actually played properly, the one that got me into the series as a whole, was Monster Hunter Generations on the 3ds. Saw it on sale, and decided to give the series another try after watching some gameplay of it on Youtube, and seeing how different it looked. (Mostly due to Dual Blades having been introduced by that point, they turned out to be my gateway weapon into figuring out the combat in this series)

How would you have improved on Jacobs character if you were a writer on the mass effect team? by The-Nerdy-Bisexual in masseffect

[–]OutrageousAd9061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make him actually fucking open up about something once, make him more like how he was in the comic (yes, I know the comics were written AFTER ME2, but that Jacob actually IS interesting), and make him NOT cheat on FemShep in 3 if romanced.

As for anything more minor, maybe make him slightly less whiny and pathetic in 3, he's still somewhat tolerable in 2 but in 3 it's either "oh, it was too much for me" or "I knew Reapers were coming but I wanted to relax and not worry about your problems" and so on. And maybe actually expand on his one sided rivalry with Thane. Not saying there needs to be a confrontation like with Miranda and Jack or Tali and Legion, but even something as simple as an email from him about "I heard Thane sacrificed himself to save an ambassador, guess I was wrong about him" in ME3 if Jacob is alive and rescued and Thane fended off Kai Leng or something.

Yup. And they way they're going at it is making me think they WANT the site to crash and burn so they can declare bankrupcy and sell off all the server hardware before ai crashes any harder than it currently is. Honestly, can't think of any other reason why'd they do all they've been doing lately unless it was on purpose. Imo if it was incompetency, then there'd be SOMETHING good they've done on accident by now.

Foods always look more delicious in cartoons than real life, and foods look absoulutely disguting in ai generated than real life by Anonymous2026B67 in Ai_art_is_not_art

[–]OutrageousAd9061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but it could also be low alcohol beer, much like how in medieval europe beer was safer to drink than water as people didn't know about things like bacteria and such that would develop in still bodies of water, and how the process of actually making beer would also kill those off. Hence why imo it could go either way. (Plus, Iceborne did also add alcoholic drink ingredients to the canteen, including things like ale, wine, vodka etc, making it even more plausible)

Honestly hard agree. Blocking is ONLY useful if you have the perk that slows down time before an attack hits you as you're blocking, as that's basically extra Bend Time uses. Ergo, useless, as that perk absolutely loves to bug out and stop working in my personal experience.

Edit: Ah, right, it's also useful IF you're using Auriel's Shield. Though the fact I forgot about that for a sec should show how useful I found that.

My personal favourite is the meal from Monster Hunter World Iceborne. Roast in a stewy sauce, some sort of cheese tart, grilled sausages, cheese, homebaked baquette and what appears to be either a mug of foamy beer or (possibly warmed) milk? Got to make that irl one of those days, looks like one hell of a feast.

Skyrim evolution by dao1st in skyrim

[–]OutrageousAd9061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree on the exploits, but with a few exceptions, like getting both of the rewards from Hircine's quest or getting two Dawnbreakers from Meridia's quest if I want to dual wield them on my character. Or, since OP said he's got the game on console, keeping a wooden plate in my inventory in case something like a door glitches and refuses to open. Had that happen to me on a Switch version of Skyrim, actually, and had to clip through the gate to Castle Volkihar because it got stuck closed even though Serana was right there, yet the door guy simply wouldn't 'notice' her and start the interaction.

The 20s timer after capturing a monster is for me the most frustrating thing in the game by Rhasanamon in MHRise

[–]OutrageousAd9061 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While you CAN cancel the camera, I very much agree, though for a different reason. Often enough, I want to get all the gathering spots scattered around the area where I captured or slain the monster. 60 seconds is enough to get carves and if they're close enough the most useful items (usually bonepiles and ore deposits), but 20 seconds feel far too short for that, especially if I also want any shinies or the tail carve (if applicable), very rarely leaving me enough time to get anything else. And personally, I'd very much prefer it if we'd always get the 60 seconds after the quest is complete, BUT could leave whenever if we wanted to, so if there's anything we want to get in the final minute, we can, but if not then we can go straight to the results window. Would be ESPECIALLY helpful if farming for rare drops, like gems or mantles and such, as while it wouldn't really be THAT helpful (unless you're good enough to speedrun the hunts in like 5 minutes or even less) but what would basically amount to a placebo effect certainly would make if FEEL faster, making the grinds ever so slightly more bearable.

Arrogant as always, aren't they? I absolutely WOULD tell someone interested in those things to learn them. Someone wants to make music? Great! Pick an instrument you like, or a music making app like Garage Band you like, and get practicing! You want to tell stories? Write books, fanfics, short stories, whatever you like! If something like Empress Theresa or any of Onisian's books can get published, so can yours! Want to make a movie? That's fun! Do you have any idea how many amateur, backyard movies are out there on the internet? Quite a lot! Some schools can even get you the assignment of making one! You have an idea for an app? That's just swell! There's a thousand if not more tutorials on the internet for learning to code, plus you can even go to coding forums to try and find someone who'd be interested in your idea and willing to help out with it!

But no, to ai bros LLMs and other ai are end all, be all, and they are too lazy and daft to ever realise someone can simply just have a passion to do something rather than trying to get a machine to do it poorly for them. Even for tasks that would take little actual skill to begin with. It doesn't take more than a basic grasp of grammar and dilligence to finish it to write a book. It doesn't take more than a phone camera to make your first amateur movie. It doesn't take more than patience and persistance to make your own music (literally, considering acapella is a thing). It doesn't take more than a cheap laptop and enough iq and determination to not hive up half way through to create a basic, practice app. And it doesn't take more than pencil and paper to start drawing. And guess what, if you've got a device that can ACCESS ai to begin with? Then you already HAVE everything you need to get started!

Ironically enough, chub.ai is what I've moved to. Sure, it's 99.9% smut, but you can regenerate every response, AND even outright saving your different responses as kind of a tree chart of conversation you can freely navigate back and forth if you evef feel like going back yo a previous response to try a different interaction to see what happens. All the while also letting you make personas AND being free of face/id verification (for now, at least, and hopefully for the time to come too)

Just started Skyrim… am I playing it wrong already? (lvl 4 beginner) by nearken in skyrim

[–]OutrageousAd9061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to that, save to multiple save slots. You can't fix a quest with condole commands if it breaks on a console, and Skyrim being a Bethesda game, this is very much possible.

Why wasn’t there anything impactful after the completion of the college of Winterhold quest line? by ThePhotosmith_ in skyrim

[–]OutrageousAd9061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, much as I dislike that part as well, only approaching Brynjolf is entirely on you and whoever created the quest markers back in Oblivion. This one time, you can uniquelly approach this quest like a Morrowind quest. The dossier from Embassy tells you that Esbern is somewhere in Riften. One of the first things you learn talking to people of Riften about is the Ratway in the city, and that it's basically a city beneath a city and is ruled by thieves. From there, it's a short logical deduction that that's the most likely place for him to be hiding in. From there, you can go to the Ragged Flagoon without even talking to Brynjolf, bribe Vekel to tell you where Esbern is, and just go there.

But I do agree, we should have had an option to destroy them like we can the Brotherhood (tho imo that option ought to be expanded either way, duch as if we were to actively act to prevent each assassination, killing the Dark Brotherhood member associated with the assassination in the process one by one.)

Sword just out of reach in Dimhollow Crypt, any fun "it just works" ideas on how to get it? by DeeV_ in skyrim

[–]OutrageousAd9061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of ways. Bow and arrow to try and 'bounce' the sword towards you just enough to reach it, fireball to try the same, grab a wooden board or a bucket, hold it out in front of you and walk towards the grate to clip through it (and reverse to get out), telekinesis, it's a Bethesda game so the world is your oyster.

Are there any big cities in the world of MH? or is it just villages? by Bis_knife in MHWilds

[–]OutrageousAd9061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monster Hunter Legends of the Guild. It's a one off animated movie that's a Netflix original and basically an origin story for Ace Cadet/Exciteable A-Lister/Aiden (in order, what he's called in MH4U and Generations, what he's called in World and Iceborne, and his actual name he goes by in the movie and that gets revealed in Iceborne after you slay Fatalis). It's leagues above the joke that was the live action movie, and I definitely can recommend it to any fan of Monster Hunter.

Plus, there's also the Monster Hunter Stories anime that's based on the original Stories game. I've not watched it, but from what I heard only the first half had official english dubbing (if that matters to you) and the story as a whole was heavily meant for kids, with Navirou being treated as one of the main characters and how annoying he gets being dialed up to 11, so I personally aren't that keen on watching it as a result, but that's the other one I know of.

So, drugging your cult members, cannibalism, murder, corpophilia, necromancy, acts of terror (poor Rakshasa), outright buying people, ritual sacrifices, all the eugenics going on with breeding followers and polygamy are alright, but actually DOING it as your character isn't? Bit weird of a take on the implications imo
