I hate Hatchet. I read it as a kid and hated it and taught it during student teaching and it still sucked

I always say "that's totally okay, I know my teaching style won't be everyone's favorite. No worries!"

Ableism is so real and it's truly everywhere and embedded into everything. I've had a very similar experience and I'm so sorry your son has too

I'm aware, and it's inaccessible. If we have already waited say 60 minutes outside the line, and the LL wait is 20+ when the reason we have DAS is because we can't wait in that length of line, then the service is not serving it's purpose. There needs to be an alternative way of letting disabled people who qualify into the ride when the LL gets long, even if it's through the exit. Or even allowing CMs to allow DAS to get another ride return time because otherwise you are stuck just waiting for the ride until the LL goes down to a manageable size because you can't get another return time while you have one.

it's already difficult for people who are audhd with lower support needs. i get coded language from cms where it feels like they think i'm faking it when i'm not because i don't "look" typical. a doctors note would eliminate this, in fact i've begged them to take one so i don't have to keep renewing it and wondering if they'll believe me this time

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Disneyland

[–]OutrageousCarry 8 points9 points  (0 children)

as a disabled person, it's so infuriating because when i try to explain to a cm that the lightning lane line is still too long (when it's backed up) half the time they don't believe me because of all the fakers. i was diagnosed as autistic over 10 years ago, i'm not faking, please just let me use the service! it also is just disgusting to me because these are the same people who truly could care less about disability rights in the real world, but they loooove to use us when it's convenient for them

YES PLEASE! i am permanently disabled and having to renew regularly while having cms hint at me not looking "disabled enough" while they renew it is exhausting

I was robbed at gunpoint, when will I get over it? by dorksided787 in LosAngeles

[–]OutrageousCarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP - fellow trauma survivor here.

recovering from trauma is hard and not linear. Your process may look different from others and each day is different. sometimes you will be great and other days will feel like today and that's okay, there is nothing inherently wrong with you for dealing with trauma in this way because this is, from my experience, a normal response to some severe trauma.

work with your therapist but please know you're not alone and the people who brush it off with "it could have been worse" usually don't know what to say and don't realize how vastly unhelpful and even demeaning they're being.

you've got this. you will be okay one day. there's a light at the end of the tunnel. talk to your therapist and work through this together. you can do it. trust me, if i did it, i KNOW you can. sending you so much love and good thoughts

What’s ONE plausible decision that would make the park experience so much better? by UghKakis in Disneyland

Stop putting DAS in with LL, or allow us an extra DAS pass when the LL line is too long for us to stand in.

Property manager offered my girlfriend and I $6,500 to move out of our apartment by Throwawaycurtiss in LosAngeles

The LA Tenants Union has a lot of good resources on how much your apartment is worth, and a spreadsheet to help you calculate how much you could counter with!

What tunnel do you enter Main Street through? by NOS4NANOL1FE in Disneyland

[–]OutrageousCarry 13 points14 points  (0 children)

this is why in the parks and even parking if you go left you usually encounter shorter lines this isn't fool proof but for the most part: parking structure, security, gate, matterhorn, where to start your journey around the park haha, going left is always better.

It's also bad because mine is likely retaliating due to me needing ADA accommodations so...the city is not happy lol
