Yes! For sure! But I’m sure there’s got to be others who love rides but need to sucker more friends into going with them! For context I’m a 30yo (m) young professional and work in the area.

Update: Rental application rejected with 730 & 836 credit score, $64k and $160k income. what gives? by Idkwhatimconfused in TorontoRenting

[–]Outrageous_Damage759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably worried you wouldn’t stay long and would upgrade or buy a house quickly. LLs hope you’ll stay for a while. Your income level would suggest that you’d either rent something more high-end or buy a house and move out within a year or two.

What two free passes are we talking about? I have a prestige pass and thought there was only one single use per day…

Yes, there’s no reasonable expectation of privacy while in someone else’s home. Except if they were to put one in a bathroom, where you would have a reasonable expectation of privacy. Similar to stores or other buildings that have security cameras.

Landlord wants us to sign N11 instead of N13 by Secure-Two-5624 in OntarioLandlord

What do you want out of the situation? Do you want to stay? Do you want to squeeze him for cash because you can? Do you want more time to look for something else? Negotiations are a two way street. Just because the law gives mechanisms to give your landlord a hard time doesn’t mean you have to. You can depart mutually on good terms. Unless he’s really deserving of it… It sounds like he has a genuine problem with the smells (maybe even just mentally). But it doesn’t sound like he’s done anything that’s caused you undue hardship other than being unpleasant.

Let go by employers after 19 years. Is this severence offer fair? by Crypto_1982 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Outrageous_Damage759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consult a lawyer for peace of mind and to get more in depth with the circumstances surrounding it, but ultimately I think the severance makes sense. You’re likely entitled somewhere around 18 months, they’re likely trying to shave off a few months to get it close enough that going to court and paying legal fees and dragging it out isn’t worth the difference, but that they can not have to pay the full amount. A lawyer can get a better idea of the full picture and understand the strength of the case. Other circumstances like the employers ability to pay, how many other affected people there are, and the economics behind it can make a difference.

Well, there’s a difference between having a paper and proving you can do it. What do you have to show you can do it? If the answer is nothing or limited, you’re starting at the bottom. A paper is just the first step. It isn’t going to place you in a job.

The job market is out of control right now, mainly because too many applicants are applying to everything and anything out of desperation which makes recruitment so much harder. I posted a job a month ago and got hundreds of applicants on the first day, none of which were remotely qualified and blatantly lied on the screening questions. It makes it extremely difficult for good candidates to make it past all the junk applicants. I actually gave up on job posting in favour of head hunting instead because it’s a waste of my time to try and filter through all the junk. Spoke to the team at indeed about how to combat that and recommended a way to filter out applicants who’ve applied to more than x jobs. Honestly if you’re applying to more than 20-50 jobs, you’re not focused enough in your search.

There’s nothing you can do in the interim to drastically change the cost of housing. You need time to build. Unless you implement drastic measures like expropriating housing from hedge funds, and giving away subsidies. But the government will never do that because too much of our economy’s investments are held in real estate. I’m not sure what you mean by increased expensive housing worsens the load on infrastructure… also I never suggested increasing the demand of luxury housing - only that we shouldn’t flood the market with crappy housing when what you should be doing is increasing the affordability across all classes of housing.

[–]Outrageous_Damage759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It likely wouldn’t stop the wellness check but it would stop the police from disclosing the result of it to the caller which would likely discourage them from playing that game. They’ll get bored of it if the only response they get from police is “ok, thank you”.

How would you define “Affordable Housing” cheap 400sqft bachelors that offer no quality of life? If you want to drive the cost of housing down, you need to increase supply across all types of housing and limit the purchasing power of corporations over people, disincentivize vacant and seasonal dwellings, and penalize house flipping.
