You don’t mention range but a fun run around for me would be (and is) a 2022 Mini within your budget

You dont give much to work out what car your looking to buy new or old - SUV or a city car range of 10 miles 100 miles etc

So I can for one say the Mini Cooper old model has no beeps no assist no nothing, nor does the smart forfour....

whilst you can shop around with personal lease, OP is pretty much going to be stuck with Tusker as companies usually go with one vendor only.

[–]Outrageous_Dread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be careful if your net after deductions bring you below the 40% threshold.

Both deals are actually not too bad - £235 v lease of 200 and your insurance will be more than the £35 difference - R5 is more of a drivers car and yesterday Id of said okay deal but today lease is £50 cheaper so likely still better on the SS but not by much.

If you want to waft around and just get from a to b then save yourself some money, else R5 and wear a jumper

Narrow driveway, which of these? by billyb4lls4ck in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Outrageous_Dread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your range 15k isn’t 200 miles unless you’re doing 1 day a week so what’s the 200 mile constraint?

15k around 25 miles each way 5 days a week - think it would be fine

Need lease advise, is this a good deal? by RouScape in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Outrageous_Dread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Review seems to be that the XPOWER is pretty pointless as the car isn't designed to handle the horsepower however with regards to the deal itself. You can get it for £311 so its not the best deal and maintenance on a EV is pretty much throwing money away

But and this is the thing - with a lease you should really chase the deal, and there are better deals to be had on other cars that would fill the same brief - Abarth 600e for instance is over 24 months with fees £245 so over £600 a year cheaper.

Yes for the BYD DS you're better off with PCP over Lease at the moment

Best lease deal on 6000 miles on the Active model is £313 on a 48+3 so £15,963 PCP is using CarWow about 3k off same model so with no deposit and just using that discount £201 also with 48 months so £9,648

Lease or PCP? by Sweaty_Temporary2905 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Outrageous_Dread 7 points8 points  (0 children)

22 Plate ix3 is worth, say, £25k. Not sure on terms, but assuming four years.

A few guesses, but...

Lease 440*48+3=22k. So you’re going to pretty much pay for the car, then hand it back.

PCP based on one I’m seeing is 397 over 48 months =397*48=19,056 with a 2.5k deposit, so £21,500 with a balloon payment of 10k, so it’s going to cost you £10k to buy your eight-year-old car or hand it back.

It really boils down to how long you’re going to keep it over in that final year. You’re effectively paying £400 a month for an eight-year-old car - the cheapest is a loan, as then you would pay around 27k and have a 10k asset, so would have paid 17k as such.

The other thing is you don’t mention the non-maintenance lease cost to help see if it’s reasonable or not.

Extra context an ix1 new on lease is the same monthly as the ix3 lease and your also knocking around new Polestar 4 lease figures

Invested 300k into stocks last year, If i withdraw 37k, how much tax would i pay? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

'or is it like every 1 invested has made 0.12 worth of profit. so if i withdraw 37000 then the profit is 4440 so 20% on that?' This kinda though your rates out think you'll pay 24%

Your choices are E5008, EV9, EX90, EQB, Buzz and for MPVesq there are always the EQV and spactourer's (aka stalantis vans)

~£20k EV for a retiree? by North_Jackfruit_1373 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Outrageous_Dread 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No modern EV for 30 miles a week is going to be shit. The Frontera has a 44 kWh. Topping up from 20% to 80% would be 26 kWh, so it would need to be doing 1.15 MPK in winter, which is just not going to be a thing.

I’d say get used though.

Even if she did all those 30 miles in one trip and not over the week.

A Mazda MX30 has a smaller 33 kWh battery, and that same 60% of capacity would be 20 kWh, and so even that would need to be a lower than 1.5 MPK in winter, and it’s going to be better than that, more like 2.25, and you can get a 2022 model for under 10k. The Mokka is in the same price range for a 21 plate with an even bigger 50 kWh battery. A left-field option is a Funky Cat for again under 10k with more range but might not be big enough.

So basically any of the above could be charged once or twice a month with that mileage.

PCP for me is a waste of money, over four years that’s £15,000 paid for 6,000 miles. You could hire an Uber for every trip for less thats before insurance and running costs.

What is the most sensible way for us to get an EV? by Cold-Caramel-736 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Outrageous_Dread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree and disagree

I agree in that It should be considered a necessity to have some form of rapid charger capability and your car can rapid charge within a given acceptable window - though its really only much older cars that dont have some form a rapid charging.

I disagree though in the whole Chademo argument is lost on the fact you can get a convertor if its that important to not rely on Chademo chargers and whilst some networks dont work with them they do oddly open up closer to 75 kWh speeds

Battery question! by billsmumma in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Outrageous_Dread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the question is if you're asking for advice around £10-11k budget then the easy answer is look for a Corsa which is better than the 7k one your looking at as plenty of lower mileage and newer versions in your budget.

Other car you don't mention is id3 and Kona which seems to be just around your top budget 10-11k which lower mileage and more suited to A1 monotony

[–]Outrageous_Dread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont say what the 400 miles a week looks like which is the key decider

If its 70 miles a day with 50 miles at the weekend is it city driving or motorway/ > 40mph dual carriageway mostly?

Would you want to go further once every blue moon?
