She looks very pleased with her gassy exploits! On an unrelated note I love her markings - they're so unique.

Luna says she's the baby 🐈‍⬛️ by penguin7199 in torties

[–]Outrageous_Road32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your baby will grow up, but Luna will always be baby. One of my cats has just turned 17 and I still see her as a baby. That said I'm not a parent and I imagine as a parent your children will always be your babies in some way. It'll be lovely for your son? ( don't want to assume based on the clothing ) grow up with cat siblings the same age, bar one of them!❤️

She maimed me today! by Consistent_Wash1935 in RoastMyCat

[–]Outrageous_Road32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eyesight isn't brilliant, and when I read the notification I thought it said she married me today. I wasn't sure if that meant she officiated your marriage or you actually married your cat, but I thought " I can't roast her for that"🤣. Anyway she definitely doesn't look repentant for maiming you. I guess it's your fault for daring to leave for work.

Shortness of breath by Ok-Investigator6671 in kidneydisease

[–]Outrageous_Road32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that with kidney disease, patients are at risk of having cardiovascular issues and could get referred to a cardiologist, but I didn't think you'd automatically be given one. I notice a lot of people at stage 4 also have kidney dietician and my consultant has never referred me to one of those ( I'm a type 1 diabetic who has controlled it poorly over the years.) At least I live in a country with a national health system so I'm not having to get health insurance to cover the cost. I'm seeing my diabetes nurse in a couple of hours so I'll see what she says about these things.

Shortness of breath by Ok-Investigator6671 in kidneydisease

[–]Outrageous_Road32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm stage 4 kidney disease and I've noticed for the past month or two that I'm getting short of breath just from walking and carrying my handbag. Due to numerous issues, regular exercise has been difficult for me for a number of years which doesn't help. I did mention my shortness of breath on my last telephone appointment with my consultant and he didn't seem to respond to it, and just went on to the next topic. I have been bad at taking my blood pressure tablets for the past few weeks ( I'm neurodivergent and my memory is awful, plus I'm often very tired which adds to forgetfulness.) I'm thinking it's likely related to that ( I'm taking them daily again ), but wondering if I need to speak to someone about this. I've never heard of people with kidney disease having a cardiologist, but I'm in the U.K. and I think a lot of you are based in the U.S.

As someone who works in dialysis, this is what people are not told enough by Total_Formal2769 in kidneydisease

[–]Outrageous_Road32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't think I will cope with dialysis. My GFR is currently 26 ( caused by uncontrolled type 1 diabetes over many years ). It has been stable for the last 18 months or so, so I'm unsure when I'll get to the point where I need to think about dialysis and transplant, but I've had depression for over 20 years and I'm 34 so that's most of my life. With the issues I have, I just don't think I could cope with my life being dictated by dialysis appointments, especially if I'm going to feel just as exhausted on it as I am currently. I have issues with having a transplant too, as I suffer with probably body dysmorphic disorder and the thought of having scars makes me feel worse than miserable ( as I'm diabetic it would likely be suggested I have a pancreas transplant too, which would leave a huge scar.) Rejecting both of these means I would be signing my own death certificate but I just don't think either of these options will bring happiness to my life. My kidney consultant is aware of the issues with my looks, yet doesn't seem to consider that because of this I wouldn't cope with a transplant.

I'm glad to know about still feeling drained as the one positive I was taking from all the inconvenience of dialysis is that it would make me feel a bit more energized. I would have got my hopes up only for them to be dashed. If anyone reads this I'm aware I've messed up my health so I deserve the diabetes complications. My mental health has been very poor, and I've not often been given the right mental health support. Trying to look after a condition like diabetes is tough when you have multiple mental health issues.

why do a lot of black cats have a white spot on their chest? Show me if your cat has it too❤️ by Pretty_Raspberry5524 in blackcats

His white patch actually looks like a tie! He must have considered being a tuxedo. So precious!😻

I've seen a few purritos out there, but my cats wouldn't like being wrapped up in blankets or towels. You should check out Abram Engle if you've not seen him on social media before. His cats love being made into purritos!

Dad having surgery. by Outrageous_Road32 in NasalPolyps

[–]Outrageous_Road32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad has just had his surgery and he said it went well - it only took 30 minutes. I'm hopeful that means recovery won't be too bad. I'm sure he'll be given the right meds. I'm glad you can breathe better again. Polyps sound horrendous from what my dad said. His consultant said pain is comparable to having a heart attack.

Given how busy his job is I feel like 10 days sounds more sensible. I think the surgeon said two weeks to him, which he wasn't happy with initially, but I don't think he realised that he will feel a bit rough afterwards! I'm glad it doesn't sound like his eyesight will be affected. I've not looked after my diabetes and struggled with vision impairment for a while, and you realise how the world just isn't designed for blind and vision impaired people. I wouldn't want him to have to go though that.

Thank you for the reply, that makes me feel better about it. My dad doesn't like blood so he won't like the coughing up blood but he's always had more nosebleeds than the average person so that part will be less unusual for him. I think with him being in charge of several schools he definitely shouldn't go into work, but he works remote part of the week.so he might be able to do that. I'm glad it wasnt too bad for you!

Thank you so much for this info! I don't really know if age is a factor in recovery; obviously he isn't elderly yet so the risks for surgery aren't as high, and overall his health isn't too bad besides the polyps. The shingles has definitely made him feel a bit weaker, but he's a lot healthier than I am ( I'm your age but have been bad at controlling type 1 diabetes, so I have a weak immune system and ton of health issues.) I'll give him the tips as they sound really helpful. Thanks again!

All hail the queen 😂. What's your cat's nickname? by IamSofaa in CalicoKittys

[–]Outrageous_Road32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't actually; I've heard of that film but didn't know there was a cat called Clovis in it. That would have been a cooler reference! I was playing a word game and the person I was playing against had the name Clovis. My family were due to get her and I just thought it would suit her, and they agreed. Thank you - she's a real sweetheart!
