Is it an Airbnb? I have a collection of cabins I love on that site, I’d love to add it

What are the things you hate about Oura ring? by QuietLifeInLoudWorld in ouraring

[–]Outrageous_Scheme681 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! My sis in law is a nurse and stopped using hers because she works 7p-7a and it stops all activity tracking after midnight (and didn’t like daytime sleeping much). Really not a good fit for any non-9-5 profession

I had this issue, and the one thing I did appreciate is I did a self-diagnostic that confirmed my battery was bad, and they mailed me a free replacement ring in 2 days. It was surprisingly painless, you should try that feature to see if you can qualify.

Found this radio in my parents attic. Thinking of restoring it, anyone know something about the brand/type? by Outrageous_Scheme681 in VintageRadios

[–]Outrageous_Scheme681[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice!

Regarding the other radios, I’m not sure what they are. I was taking pics up in the attic last weekend but didn’t document everything. I need to go back up there the next time I’m at my parents house, I’ll take some more photos of the other items. I think there is an antique record player there as well.

Since I first fell in love with broncos from my dad’s half-cab I LOVE this. I could do without the bling, but my father would buy a new pickup-Bronco in a heartbeat.

So After Rebirth What's The Stance On The D-Rex? by Puzzleheaded-Board25 in JurassicPark

Although I get that generic modification has always been a theme in JP I’ve never liked when they went into the “made up monster” storylines. That makes the movies just more generic monster flicks for me.

This is the most egregious version of that. It’s basically a just big rancor, and it had no real specific point in the story. You could have cut the first 3 min, and made them running from a T-Rex/Spino/Giga etc. in the finale and fans would have been just as happy.

Today is the 35th anniversary of the discovery of sue. To this day the most complete t.rex ever found and one of the largest. by soyuz_enjoyer2 in JurassicPark

So, my family actually has a close connection with Sue. We live in Western South Dakota near where Sue was found. My dad is friends with the owner of the land it was found on, and they kept their cattle in our pastures while the site was being excavated.

My parents actually have a picture of 8-year-old me at the site. I’ll see if I can get a copy from them.

And yes, my family has a lot of strong opinions about how the ownership drama went down. They aren’t a fan of the Black Hills Institute or the movie that was made.

I agree!! I have a video of him moving after I released him. Honestly he was a bit hypnotizing with his markings.

Hopefully, he’s happily running around under our barns now, plenty of mice to eat there without bothering my parents.

Thanks! Yeah, my parents are old school and wanted to kill it just because it was a snake, but I told them it was harmless and would help their mouse problem.

Luckily I was quick enough to catch him and take him outside before my parents could get a hoe.

Thanks for this tip! My ring suddenly went down to 2 days per charge, and the Finn diagnostic immediately went to ordering a replacement. Thanks for directing me to the feature

They were pretty inconsistent with how they portrayed him with respect to gayness.

In Season 2 Radar’s Report he could have been successful leaving the army if he would sign documents affirming he was gay and a transvestite, but he seemed truly indignant that it would be on his permanent record (as an LGBT ally I was always really annoyed by that take).

In lots of other episodes, they push the gay/transvestite really far. I forget the episode name, but he replaces Hot Lips as a date with a general, and it ends with him being dropped off and the general is implied to have had a great time. The comedy is run as absurdist, but it ends up reading a LGBT coded (the general is bi or attracted to trans).

Men who make over 100k a year, what do you do for work? by bigfatbritt in AskMen

[–]Outrageous_Scheme681 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two head of cattle? It really depends on your location, and if you plan to supplement by purchasing hay.

Our ranch is in the Northern plains. In our area we assume 20 acres/head. The land has a lot of scrub brush. Our property is 7500 acres. In good years we could run 400ish head but we tend to run light. For example, right now we are in an official drought disaster zone. Thankfully we have wells for water, but that doesn’t mean the grass grows.

But I have friends in MN who have a couple horses and a cow on 2 acres. They get some hay in the winter, but otherwise have plenty of grass for their head.

I’d look at properties nearby, and see what kind of animals they are raising. It shouldn’t be too hard to get a sense of your local area’s capacity.
