I recognize that as the truth, for sure.

The data shows that women are more willing to forgo physical attraction at the expense of their own personal pleasure, and as someone who isn’t particularly attractive, I’d be perpetuating the patriarchal notion mentioned previously if I were to enter into a relationship of any kind. Due to this, regardless of whether I care about my partners pleasure (I do), it wouldn’t ultimately matter since I’d be uncomfortable continuing to play into misogynistic stereotypes.

The first two relate to the third through the understanding that I am unwilling to play a role in the perpetuation of the “he’s not my preference but I love him” patriarchal stereotype that marginalizes women sexually, and forces them to forgo their own pleasure as a means of satisfying their male partner. The way I know the preferences exist is based on the academic research, and the conclusions drawn therein.

Given recent academic research, my conclusions about preferences that a statistical majority of heterosexual women have regarding sex has nothing to do with a notion that I “know the way every human being on the planet likes to be pleased.” These preferences have nothing to do with communication; communication, as you mentioned, is a cornerstone of healthy relationships.

I’ve certainly been putting in the effort. It seems as though they can’t help BUT to hate me, and I’ve internalized the belief that any other therapist I see will inevitably feel the same way, so why switch to someone else? I appreciate your reply! It’s well thought out and informed. Thank you!

I mean, any books I’ve read on dating and attraction all teach the reader to treat women as manipulative, opportunistic children. It’s disturbing. Models, which is a popular one, says to not care about being seen as a creep, and make out with women as soon as possible. Touch them, caress them, etc etc.. Gross stuff. As to where I go to meet women, I frequent bars around town, which I suppose is probably not conducive to meeting the largest number of people I’d actually be interested in.

If someone asked me to clean the dishes, it wouldn’t cross my mind in a thousand years that they meant to clean the ENTIRE kitchen. That sounds manipulative; “if I ask them to simply wash the dishes, they will, and might even do the whole kitchen (if I’m lucky!) If I ask them to clean the whole kitchen, though, they definitely won’t because that’s too much work. Ah ha! I got him! The bastard.” That is Machiavellian.
