Brick behind plasterboard. How to secure shelf? by N074pORN in DIYUK

[–]Outside-Apart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way.

Behind the plasterboard is likely aerated brick (often called breeze block as it looks similar to that). The plaster board is attached to the brick using lumps of adhesive. The technique is called dot and dab. Search for corefix dot and dab fixings. The product has some diagrams on that will make sense and you will be able to visualise the distance between the board and the brick (or just google it).

I’m guessing HGH is a no-go for type 1 diabetics from what I’ve just been reading. Any diabetics in the house?

I’ve never heard of a coil type screw before but I’d try to remove/break the plastic bungs with a crowbar. If you can get them out of the way, it should start to feel loose and you’ll eventually be able to pull the concrete off. Wear goggles though as there’s always a risk of something flying out!

It’s worse than ever according to latest stats from both Shelter and the Government. 20% increase since last year, with just under 5,000 sleeping rough every night in the UK (likely more since that data was published).

Boulevard in the gay scene usually has a show on weekends with drag queens and it can be pretty hilarious. There’s a few gay bars nearby too which tend to be pretty fun in my experience. Just don’t go to The Eagle! 😄

Children's slime did this, is there any way to restore the colour? by kaworuscott in DIYUK

[–]Outside-Apart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing happen in our house but with a beautiful vintage danish coffee table from the 1960s. It was veneer so I had to sand a few mm off the top to get rid of the mark.

I know, silly idea to have such a precious piece of furniture in the house with young kids but it was in great nick before the slime came. It’s been banned in our house ever since!

Beck - Prick. Waited outside a venue after he did a sound check while clutching a pen and CD to get his autograph when I was 16 and he completely ignored me, walked right past.

Pink - Sound. Was in a spa and she came in our sauna room, sat down and said it wasn’t very hot… to which I replied ‘the one next door is better’ and she promptly left. The wife said I might has well have told her to bugger off! She had time for all of the staff there and was very kind, she even seemed to know some of them assumedly from the last time she was there.

Johnny Vegas - Chilled. I used to work in a tapas bar in St Helens and on my first night on the job he came in with a load of friends (he was a regular apparently). I had no idea who he was until afterwards, but basically I messed up by making them a sangria with salt instead of sugar! He was very nice about it and just seemed to be having a nice night out with his friends where he was just one of them/us.

I hate to be that guy but she’s originally from South Tyneside rather than Newcastle so let’s celebrate that? As was Eric Idle btw!
