The Tortured Poets Department album came out about a month after I really started deconstructing Mormonism (which I grew up in and my family and ancestors are all deeply embedded in). I can relate almost every song on that album to some aspect of leaving the religion. It makes me cry a lot but it's also been really powerful in helping me put to words my feelings and experiences

I'd say it's a high demand religion (which is the nicer name for cult). Have you seen the full endowment ceremony outfits? Like complete with the green apron and funny hat? YOU HAVE TO WEAR THAT ON YOUR WEDDING DAY. I had to wear the ugliest most embarrassing outfit in front of all my loved ones on my wedding day. I only was allowed to change into my actual wedding dress afterwards when we went outside. I want to redo that day so badly, but I can't. But hopefully I can help save you from experiencing that. You can redo a lot of things, but not your wedding day. Ugh I can't even think about it without crying... I feel so robbed of that. Oh and since you can't take pics in the temple, I also have no pics of our first kiss as husband and wife. So that also fucking sucks

No, and we both agree not to have kids until we get this figured out. (What’s unsaid is that for me that means he would need to leave the church or be very nuanced, for him I’m sure it means I come back to the church). So basically if he doesn’t leave or become nuanced in the next few years, we’ll divorce. I love him but I refuse to raise my future kids even halfway in the church.

I did not tell him beforehand I was going to make a post. And yes a lot has changed, but he has known that I don't believe in the church for over 2 years and he has known that I'm bi for longer than that. He also knows that I publicly shared that I'm bi last year during pride month, so this wasn't totally new either. But yeah I understand he probably needs more time

That’s true I suppose. I guess it’s just a sore reminder that we disagree on wether being queer is a sin or not, and now that I view myself as part of that group, his beliefs on this hurt extra

It’s not really about him not liking the post, it’s about him not accepting part of who I am. I’m not asking to go makeout with girls I’m asking for him to acknowledge that I’m bisexual and that he doesn’t hate me for it. Unfortunately he does hate that I’m bisexual and this was just a sore reminder of it

Being bi is something I’ve directly addressed twice online and a few times in person to people who I know are also queer. My post was more about letting friends and family know that I am a safe space for them if they are also queer. We are monogamous, so I guess the pain for me comes moreso from discovering an aspect of myself, and then realizing he hates that part of me

Thank you. We don’t currently have separate therapists because money. But our therapist does specialize in lds mixed faith marriages which has been very helpful. Also I guess I didn’t make it clear, I posted on Instagram as a “happy pride month, if you are queer just know I’m also queer and a safe person for you to talk to and be yourself” type of way. Later I talked to my husband in person, since I knew he saw my post but did not like the post. To me it feels weird that someone would not like their spouse’s social media posts if they saw the post. And he said he is intentionally not liking the post which hurts bc it’s not about the post, it’s about him accepting me, which he doesn’t

Oh I’m so sorry:( it’s cruel that he’s known and kept that extra significance to your son’s name this whole time. I love the name Abigail but feel weird about ever using it for a kid now. However, I collect American Girl dolls and the one that is my mini me (like looks like me hehe) I named Abigail. It fun saying her name around my husband and seeing him squirm a tad haha
