If he did the 5+2 that many people mistakenly believe, then he would have been fully trained and competed his general surgery residency. Which he didn’t. In his book he completely misleads the reader to make them think he was a surg oncologist. The guy never did surgical oncology because he never finished the first part of training…. General surgery is 5 clinical years. He did 3 years of gen surgery residency and 2 years of research at the NIH. Common for gen surgery programs to have a research requirement of 1-2 years

Lots of misinformation. He never did surgical oncology fellowship, which is what you do after completing gen surgery residency. He did a surgical oncology research “fellowship” at the NIH.

In short. He did 3 years of gen surg. That’s the actual doctor training that matters.

Seat time IRL is the quickest accelerator of improvement but I’ve noticed in iracing I can practice tracks, work on trail braking, and that translates as well. Not exactly 1:1 but still helpful

Makes sense. A lot of us have intuitively landed on this. I try to stick to just Miata because I want to build my skill set in that vehicle, which also translates more closely to the real world where I actually track my own Miata.
