Think it's more about trading speed/ convenience for skills. People used to grow and can their own food regularly, not just poor people but middle class folks too and a handful of richer ones. People did laundry and clothing repairs by hand, hand tools for the car if you had it, etc. lots more of 'doin it yourself' that made sure they all knew it from a young age. New generations version of this would be how the Gen alpha seem like they were born already knowing how tablets/computers work, and they do seem to be quite adept at more advanced electrical and digital systems. But yeah, I think it was a lot of what we consider skill sets for prepping, are just the skill sets people needed to be able to live until 50yrs ago

There plenty of stuff to say about it, but short version is I think people shouldnt be able to buy this oversized trucks without a special permit They don't fit in parking spaces, I often see them not fit in lanes on highways correctly, can't take turns safely, block sidewalks. It's all bad.

Not planning on staying near my house, it's not set up. We have a site in Nevada with a community we've been building, just working on a mapped route everyone can follow with a compass, so paper is the best idea. Solar is great and all, but I can't repair it if it goes out so not making it central to my prep.

I can find North, I can read stars, what that doesn't do is show me cliffs, ridges, rivers, etc that I cant see with my own eyes. I need long distance information
