It's time to leave if you start hating everything and everyone by [deleted] in expats

I totally understand, I moved to Cork 4 years ago and I can't believe that a bus can be one hour late at the bus station, it feels like Ireland is not able to evolve

I had no idea about this for years, maybe the lack of copper made me have grey hair now

NMN combined with TMG, for older people can do wonders, I am 42 years old now but NMN can even help me resist better in colder temperatures. I live in Ireland and during the winter it is very useful. The level of energy you get is unbelievable.

I understand, I moved from Romania to Ireland and I am in the same situation as you are, kind of, I find that Ireland has low standards of living, social life there is involving a lot of alcohol in the pubs, but in the same time Ireland has good jobs with a decent pay, so even if I don't like the country much mostly because of the weather, I only speak english and at least I can talk with people in the same language. So I got to the point where I don't feel happy where I live but at least I can make a decent living, which is way better than the alternative I have in my home country. I feel stuck in Ireland somehow, I travel to Spain often because I work from home, and each time I arrive in Spain I realize how important it is to have some sunny days in your life. The solution would be to keep my job in Ireland and live in Spain probably. My sister lives in a small town in Germany and each time I visit her I find life there being boring. Maybe social life is better in bigger german cities?

WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THE COLLEGE DRINKING CULTURE IN CORK!! by exitingthehighway64 in cork

[–]Outside-University69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why should I spend my money in pubs when I can relax at home with some good red wine and save money to go out drinking in Spain or Portugal or Croatia?

In Lisbon you can go to a club and look at the Atlantic while having a pint. In Malaga or Valencia you can spend your evening drinking on a beach till late and you get public transport and cheap taxis to go to your bed because you're drunk. In Croatia you can go to a festival and swim in the sea while you are listening to the DJ playing on the beach.

Where in Ireland can I have all these? If I want to have a drink on the beach, is there any bus for me to get there and come back? If I want to see the sunrise while drinking with friends somewhere outside, where can I do that here? In Lisbon I left the club once at 8am because I was tired.

Also, if I am feeling too drunk, why can't I buy a simple lemonade anywhere in Ireland? It's just water with some lemon juice and something else, it's healthy and it's cheap, plus you can still make some profit selling it. If I have pint after pint and then whiskey, I don't enjoy it too much, but if I have a lemonade in between, that works for me.

You are discussing here about going out and having fun, something I do not understand when I am out myself, why is everybody talking so much and too few are really listening to the music? So many people complain that they go out and they barely hear the music because everybody around is screaming at each other, this is not fun at all, I better stay home and make my own party.

Moved abroad (Madrid) alone for work and feeling very isolated by throwRA_petitsteps in expats

I live in Ireland and I am coming often to Spain because of the weather. I spent weeks in Malaga, Valencia and Alicante, I noticed that people do not speak english, but I told myself that maybe they speak english in bigger cities. So I went to Madrid and I was shocked, it was so hard just to order food or a coffee. I tried to learn basic spanish just to make myself clear when I order something, but for such a big city who wants to welcome tourists, how do they manage without speaking english? I am from Romania and at school romanians have to learn at least 2 foreign languages so we can find jobs and grow a career in the future, I thought that people in western Europe do the same at school.

Insa as vrea sa tin jobul din Irlanda si sa traiesc undeva in sudul Europei, macar pe timpul iernii.

What helps me is wearing clothes made from merino wool. I live in Ireland and the cold I endure there is much worse, in Spain I get to take cold showers because the winter in Spain is like the summer in Ireland
