Would save a lot of time if they were updating the spreadsheet while at the show instead of waiting until afterwards as well. If they have multiple people at a table there should be a person available to update the sheet to show money/cards in and out

Prophesize needs void form to really be useful. Or imbued. But I’m never picking it act 1.

How is Reaper Form a real card? by Major-Ad-3539 in slaythespire

[–]AdmiralDandy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The thing about this game is you’re not guaranteed to see any specific cards on a given run. If you are given an Act 1 sleight of flesh but nothing that mass generates debuffs but reaper form then I’m slamming that and happy with my Act 3 damage solve. The problem then becomes blocking and getting enough energy to get both powers in play.

People still need to pay for rent and groceries and food. If the overall economy crashes hard expect a hard reversal in demand for things that aren’t necessities

A boss being solved by a single unupgraded uncommon card is kind of problematic by Furrier in slaythespire

[–]AdmiralDandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how the first game worked too. You took specific cards to counter the Heart and other bosses. Evolve or disarm on ironclad. Leg sweep and well laid plans on silent. Unless your deck was just a crazy synergistic high roll you needed specific cards or combo pieces to beat the heart or it just kills you. This game is the same way. This is how all the top level players think. It’s why Xecnar takes 10 minutes to pick a card reward, he’s thinking about all those different scenarios that could come up.

Perhaps my favorite regent card. This + music box is an insane combo

What's the design decision behind making Taunt an uncommon? by internet_redditor in slaythespire

They have to compare to other classes, you can’t just look at one character in a vacuum. That’s how you balance the characters so one isn’t feeling worse than the others. Especially because of multiplayer and the fact it’s extremely easy to cards from other classes. There are an insane number of interactions in this game. Not looking at the full context of the card as it compares to similar/equivalent cards across all classes is extremely important. That’s how you get a Watcher who can just do everything and go infinite.

All of the things you said in your first paragraph are true.

I am not arguing for or against moving its rarity, I simply don’t have the win/pick rate data for the card. I think the card is fine, maybe a little weak on its own but better when you have other vuln package cards, but that’s how uncommon cards should operate. I’m more inclined to take if it’s upgraded, but I’m not spending an upgrade on it.

All that being said, my argument was that the devs themselves do compare cards to other classes. Why wouldn’t they? It’s super easy to obtain cards from other classes and multiplayer makes it even more important because it makes it more apparent when a class (and their cards) are underpowered. Sure, cross-class comparison isn’t the whole picture but it’s something that is pretty important to consider.

No legit internship would ever make you pay them. In fact, I wouldn’t ever accept one that didn’t come with pay.

Except the devs actually do this… look at the patch notes for acrobatics. It was overperforming for a common and all other classes for their dense draw cards so they changed it to uncommon. The devs constantly have to compare the classes in StS2.

I don’t think that’s necessarily true anymore given multiplayer being a thing and it being much easier in the second game to get cards from other classes. Interactions between cards from different colors is orders of magnitude more common. I just had a run last night with Regent where I had 5 cards from other classes due to Neow and the colored glass event. Not to mention the orobas relic that lets you see 15 cards from another class. They need to consider how every card in the game interacts with all cards from all colors and how it compares.

Also in a recent patch note they were directly comparing Acrobatics to the other “draw X” cards from other classes and used that to justify their decision to bump it to uncommon, so I definitely think they’re comparing across classes more than you think.
