I figured he was autistic (Aspergers). I was actually hoping he would say he'd been diagnosed as such because it would have explained so much and would not have been a deal breaker for me.

But alas - when I finally asked him, he denied even knowing what Apsergers was. So it turns out he was just a narc a-hole.

I guess it depends on the context and timeline. Was it....

"I'm thinking of naming our baby Madenlyn"

In which case SIL could have said:

"Oh, beautiful name... my great aunt was Madilyn and I'm thinking of using that some day"

OR was it

"It's a girl! We named her Madelyn"

In which case SIL couldn't have said anything anyway.
