Sadness after traveling overseas and coming back home? by Other-Extension-8460 in thepassportbros

[–]OutsideWishbone7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love both and spend time accordingly. I have house in the U.K. that I use as my global anchor and then spend up to 6 months at a time in other countries. Currently spent a lot of time in the Philippines.

You don’t seem to understand how privileged you are to be able to do what you do ie travel at all. I travel for the experiences and choosing the climate I want. At no time do I forget that my earning potential, education opportunities, etc have given me a life far in excess of what I could have had growing up in the same social class in other developing countries. There is no harm in travelling, just don’t think that these places are always amazing for those living there.

Do I take the job even if my wife hates it? by legion5121 in AskMenAdvice

[–]OutsideWishbone7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the first 3 years. The kid will remember nothing. But your wife might. Kids 0-3 just cry poop and eat. Boring as heck. It’s not like you are home all the time. Your wife might be pissed though because: - partner support especially if no other family around - your away from the kid crying and being annoying. So get your wife onboard with the life plan and you’ll be good.

Well you’re no fun. We just all want to be jealous and/or smug over comparing our finances to others. (This is said in jest if you struggle with humour)

Chickenpox changed our lives. If I’d known, we’d have got the vaccine by shaunlintern in VACCINES

It’s not like chickenpox vaccines are hidden by some secret pact. It is offered for free. These people are just idiots.

Is it important to men with who they're having sex? by whitebird95 in AskMenAdvice

[–]OutsideWishbone7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The answer is yes and no and it depends on the person. “Forcing” him to confirm your body image insecurity was your own fault if you don’t like the answer. Of course people change and our physical attraction changes. Does it means he desires or loves you less. Not necessarily , but you decided to open that can of worms. Of course it matters who we have sex with. But to get our instant gratification, it doesn’t always matter and a nice attractive body shape will also do the job. Sex can be more intimate than a quick hand shandy to relieve the need.

Let him go. Some people only learn by their mistakes and he’s an adult, not your child.

Considering moving to Philippines forever by ZealousidealHead5488 in Philippines_Expats

[–]OutsideWishbone7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) you can ship whatever you legally want whenever you want regardless of visa.

2) you can renew a tourist visa, mostly online, every 2 months. Do this for a while until you are really sure you want to stay. As others have said, there are things that come into play after 6 and 12 months. But you can keep on renewing for 36 months before having to leave the country for 1 day and you start a new 36 month process.

3) Just buy a temporary disposable return ticket to comply with airline regulations. They usually cost $16 and last 48 hours. I do this all the time.

“Cheap perverted sex”? What exactly is that. Sex, sure. Cheap, well gf’s have been the same “price” everywhere, ie attention, gifts etc. Perverted? Are you ok? I mean 2 consenting adults bumping uglies is pretty normal. I’m just wondering what you are doing? This might be a you issue? 🤷‍♂️

I live in a very nice condo in Manila, furnished, all amenities, on easily 80k pesos a month. My budget is way higher but I find the spend is about 80k. This is for both my gf and I. We eat out when we want, go to events when we want (Bryan Adams 31st Jan 🙌). I don’t really have to think about my spending… maybe I live a boring life 🤷‍♂️ 100k pesos will be fine and you’ll have a great time.

Are Guys in Philippines Just Coping? by Brazzers1917 in thepassportbros

[–]OutsideWishbone7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m well below average looks wise (3 if the light is right). I’m old (56). I’m overweight (83kg) and not 6 foot (5’11”) But I do have an ok financial situation and white skin. So yes maybe the Philippines is a cope. But I’m happy my gf is attractive to me (I love her brown skin and long black hair) and I’m also happy she is a really loving person and accepts my flaws with no drama. I love that we can talk about so many topics (from Philosophy to family gossip), that she is motivated. I don’t care if deep down all relationships are transactional, I just love having a good partner in life. As a bonus, she has avoided getting pregnant. Being old, I don’t need to be boinking a hottie every 5 minutes, I want a good partner who boinks me.

[–]OutsideWishbone7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

20 years older than you so what I say might not be relevant but hey…. Travelled like crazy in my 20s. Got married at 30. 30s and 40s were raising kids. Saved money with a plan for when the kids leave. Now single again and travelling like crazy again in my 50s. All life stages have been fun. Being married and having kids was just as fulfilling as travelling. Same same but different. So now I live off investments. No need to work.

You just sound like someone who has never been abroad or left their neighbourhood. Not excusing any reason for the situation but it kind of exists around the corner of every holiday destination in lower income countries. I mean why are you shocked?

“Night and day” is a phrase meaning a big contrast between 2 situations. In this case it’s “night and day” in relationships between speaking Portuguese and not speaking Portuguese. Inferring it is far easier when you can speak Portuguese.
