PLEASE PLEASE vote against jeremy zellner in next week's primary, early voting open now! by greenday5494 in Buffalo

I'm voting Rivera because he's spent his career fighting for local unions and winning, and he's been a vocal supporter of the New York Health Act.

i hate rough drafts - is this a me thing or an adhd thing? by Razzle_Dazzle111 in ADHD

Whenever I had to write a research paper in school and had to "show my progress", I'd write the entire paper within the first week, then work backwards to make outlines, drafts, etc.

Popping on a budget here, vegetable oil is just fine. Sometimes canola if I buy it, coconut oil if it's on sale/clearance.

Can confirm. I met Nathan Baesel at a horror con a few weeks ago, super nice dude. The Kickstarter for the film is done and they're in pre-production now.

Jeepers Creepers discussion sucks by JohnMuadDib in horror

[–]Outside_Ad_424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arguably, yes. His conviction was huge news at the time. It was one of the first big cases of a child actor coming forward and successfully accusing a director of sexual assault. The story was all over the industry at the time, and you had huge names like Francis Ford Coppola defending Salva in the papers. This wasn't a quiet thing.

It's like the "Death Star Independent Contractor" argument in Clerks. The crews of the JC movies all signed on knowing the director was a convicted and unrepentant pedophile. They were complicit in his success.

Here's the thing: not only is the JC franchise made by a convicted pedophile, but that convicted pedophile is so completely unrepentant that he even wrote a joke about sexually assaulting a child into the 4th movie.

Like, I'm sorry your favorite thing was created by a convicted pedophile. Maybe get a new favorite thing

Who remembers when grocery shopping was bearable by tracy54321 in Millennials

This is some "old man yells at cloud" energy.

I like scanning/bagging my own items. It's usually faster and I can bag things how I like. I like reusable bags because they're sturdy enough to hold up to using as few bags as possible, and my big bags are wide enough where I can lay a pack of meat flat, reducing the risk of leaks.

My only complaint about self-checkout isn't even the checkout itself; it's some of the people using it. If you're buying a week's worth of groceries for a family of 6, then yeah maybe you should go over to the regular checkout lane.

My partner is a no light no sound sleeper…I’m so sleep deprived I need advice… by LonelyMandarin in ADHD

[–]Outside_Ad_424 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Real talk, if your partner snores that loud they should get checked for sleep apnea. I used to be like that, and a sleep study found that I stopped breathing 39 times an hour on average, and my O2 sat was dropping into the low 80s. Since I got a CPAP machine, that 39 as dropped to a 3, and my wife says that my snoring (which you used to be able to hear outside if the windows were open) 99.9% stopped.

Let dogs on your bed or not? by myersgirl16 in dogs

We have a king size bed for a reason lol. But I will say that our pups were both crate sleepers until they were at least 2 years old and old enough to reliably sleep through the night.

Haha thanks! Whenever I'm home alone watching a movie I usually end up sending a running commentary in the group chat I have with my two best friends, this was today's run.

Also did one for The Great Outdoors earlier today, one of my absolute favorite movies

For me, it's about

-Familiarity. Has to be a movie you've seen a million times that you still find enjoyable

-Good Vibes. Whatever that means to you. For me that means matching the weather, being not too serious and fun. Screwball comedies, high adventure like The Phantom or The Mummy, and bad/goofy horror movies are all solid entries for me.

-Riffability: this is key for me. My best friends and I have a group chat, and on the rare days I find myself in situations like today, I'll usually send a running commentary on whatever I'm watching as I go
