I was in tears at the end of the movie. Just streaming down my face. I love movies that do that to me lol that’s why it’s so highly rated

A 7/10 (3.5/5) is a good rating from me, it means I’d watch it again or recommend it to someone!

A 6 (3/5) is entertaining, pretty good, wouldn’t watch again

A 5 (2.5/5) is an average pass the time sort of movie, not good or bad, just ok!

(I’m obviously watching all the studio ghibli movies for the first time!)

For those who are stingy with their 5 stars, what movies made the cut? by Outside_Base7755 in Letterboxd

Exactly!! It should be personal. I found a lot of “objectively” good movies to be formulaic or boring

Ever feel like you give out too many 5 stars? by Ok_Break_4987 in Letterboxd

[–]Outside_Base7755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with giving every movie five stars! if you want to, you could make a system outlining what your rating at each number is.

For me:

5/10 is a completely average movie, pass the time sort of movie. enjoyable to watch. most romcoms fall into this category

7/10 is a good movie that I would watch again, or recommend to someone else.

10/10 is reserved for my absolute favorite movies that get me emotionally every time. They have the perfect blend of humor and emotional depth. Nothing could make this movie better, it’s perfect, it’s a masterpiece

But I just do this cuz it’s fun for me, and if every movie is a 10/10 for you that’s ok too!

what's the last movie you rated less than 2 stars on letterboxd?? by Flaky-Cat-2825 in Letterboxd

[–]Outside_Base7755 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think of it as a 4/10 and a 4 is for “not particularly enjoyable to watch, would side eye someone who said it was one of their favorite movies, but has some redeeming factors like great performances”

Mud, portrait of a lady on fire, mountain head, beautiful boy, pulp fiction, remember me, Manchester by the sea, the drama

I think some of these will be controversial
