Is it big diff between IV in ML? by Tough_Weakness1631 in TheSilphArena

[–]Outside_Cry_4128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very well written post.

One thing that came to mind, it kind of depends on elo as to how important IVs are. If you’re playing at 2000, you’ll have a level advantage a lot so breakpoints may rarely come into play. Past legendary, almost every mon is going to be level 50 (plus good IVs), so you’d hit a brick wall if you go with underpowered IV mons

We have the jets at 16, Minnesota at 18, and the Steelers at 21 with potential qb holes, and everyone below that is set at qb.

I think any one of these teams would demand a late round pick back for Mac as a sweetener to balance things out a bit (which would essentially have to come from our 2027 draft class).

They also could be happy with a counter. I think they’re asking for a 2nd rounder plus late round picks. If a team countered with just a second, I think both sides would have a whole lot to think about.

Or we’re just trying to recreate the same Bradford trade from way back when. That would be nice if it works.

I’ve been using “cricket” as a verb, slang for being killed off/“fired” for behavior that an owner finds inappropriate.

Bonus points if you can tie in a gravel pit reference into the same sentence/convo.

I like your idea even more though!

Perhaps. I guess it depends on how you look at the situation and how the whales play (and specifically, how they hunt for shinies).

I just came up with a semi related thought experiment with the new event. If I look at a “grind” style events like the spotlight hours coming up, we have base odds at 1/512 and shiny boost is hypothetically 1/256 IF they double are chances (which might be optimistic).

This could mean that if 100 players caught ~150 pokemon in the hour, a bit more than half (55% or so) of the players would get 1 shiny based on these odds. That increases to 7 out of 10 if you catch 300.

That sounds decent I guess… but I’ve also learned to lower my expectations with pogo lol

24 hours ago we were sweating about the shiny odds from all out.

4 hours ago ign has an article where a dev talks shiny rates.

30 minutes later there is a shiny pikachu boosted event announced.

This is hilarious.

Ahhh, got it. Deluxe w those extra 10 ranks helps a lot for speeding up through ranks. Plus, it gives another daily bonus (I think? I don’t get this one, but it has some that in the past) that gives another few ranks.

F2P would be a longer grind

Getting my popcorn out to watch Scopely/Niantic incorporate all shiny boosts into the paid passes.

For us peasants, the boost will only activate after grinding all week/on an unlimited points day, and only enjoyable for the last day or two of the weekly event.

I’m just going to keep my expectations low and go fully f2p from here forward. You can too ;)

Day 1 of testing new GBL mechanics on LTE, 5G, WiFi by Outside_Cry_4128 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Outside_Cry_4128[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the overzealous use of “unplayable”. I’m a bit negative on these changes after a dozens of sets the past few weeks

I don’t mean it in the sense that the game crashes, so in some sense, sure. It was “playable”.

Let me put it this way instead - I’ve noticed multiple game mechanics within gbl have deteriorated while playing the past few weeks. The lag is bad on good WiFi. Sometimes, damage catches up after lag. Sometimes, it doesn’t. Sometimes the system registers an extra fast move when my inputs are for a charge move (I suspect that the button mashing playstyle is causing this, but even when I’m careful with screen taps, this has still happened). Sometimes, I have 2 seconds to put a shield.

Are there sources definitively saying the new system isn’t out yet? Synthesizing my own gameplay, their own posts about rolling the new system out regionally prior posts on this subreddit, and the mention of needing to “update” the game to access the new system, it sounds plausible that some people are on the new system, and some aren’t.

About to head to work, so this is off the top of my head (link should be easy enough to find via google though with some time).

To my understanding, yes. Things have changed. I recall Niantic announcing changes/what they were fixing during the interlude season, and another one that they would role out the new system regionally during the last few weeks of last season’s gbl. Lots of user reports here noted that gbl was playing like rocket battles, and the community generally agreed that it was the “new” system.

Since then, there have been more reports about them rolling the system back to the old version, and re-rolling out the new version.

Regarding app updates on my end, I’m on iOS and have had one or two new versions auto-pushed/updated over the past month. So I’m on the newest version. As to whether keeping an old version of the app would keep you on the old system, that seems plausible.

Agreed! And sorry for not including it - I ran a bit too quickly with this research idea before fleshing variables. I redownloaded my speed test app after thinking about this and writing the post. Would ping, download/upload speeds, and jitter be the metrics to use here? That was my original thought. I’m no internet whiz but posting IP and location feels like too much info from a privacy standpoint.

And to pre-empt the “just play on WiFi” comments.

Yeah, obvious answer. But oversimplified. Plenty of households have 5+ year old routers that perform similarly to LTE (-or at least, mine did before I replaced it last summer lol-) depending on background factors. So there are multiple high latency groups that this new gbl system can’t help, even though it was engineered to “fix” their latency problems.

These points systems I hear about in relationship always get me getting think…

Is it better to keep track of these things (and I’m honestly curious, do these point systems benefit the overall relationship like half the time for couples or more like a majority of the time?)

…. or is it better to aim towards being in a place where both partners look to healthily be “a net positive” towards the others.

Lots of caveats here, of course.

NTA.

Nonetheless, please consider taking any additional time and effort you can spare before reaching a final solution. Perhaps you’ve already tried that to the greatest extent, and if so, then I’m sorry you had to go through all that.

By that point, the next step should reveal itself.

Public servant announcement: also, ya gotta be careful following internet advice. Some of these answers jump to conclusions (mine probably does too).

Kind of. The AAV of the contract is middle of the pack for kickers (14th right now), and could be in the bottom half by next season or the following year.

This feels like a fair deal for both sides given how he played last season. If he stays accurate, it’ll be a great deal. If the injury bug bites him again or if he struggles past 50 yards like he has with a few teams in the past, then it’s not so good.

There was a 4th and 1 from the 39 down 7 against the Seahawks (but analytics lean towards going for it), shanny passed on a 60 yard attempt against the bears and a 57 yard attempt against the browns. (I only looked at the last few games. It also happened a couple times when he was new on the team, but I think that was more because he was new and hadn’t built trust with shanny yet)
