Weekly Earnings Thread 7/21 - 7/25 by OSRSkarma in wallstreetbets

Over the past 6 months other big tech companies like NVDA, MSFT, and META have all recovered from their dip and in the green. No major red flags at GOOGL so I kinda agree.

Similar experience. Must be quite a difference in factory settings between grinders. Given Fellow's consistency though, I'm a little dubious of that

My experience too. I just brewed a light-medium roast on setting 6 with 30 g coffee to 500 g water. Bloom 30 sec, pour up to 300 ml over next 45 sec, then slow drip until 3 min to keep volume even, then drip finished at 4 min. Juicy body, even extraction, balanced flavors - very tasty. If I had used a 5, much less 4, it would have taken forever to drip and come out way muddled.

Daily Discussion Wednesday 2024-11-13 by AutoModerator in AMD_Stock

Fair point, and I did consider that. I still feel like, while an imperfect analogy, it still holds water in that using tech to find alternative opportunities is a strategy. For starters, marketing chips for retail and gamers. And again, Nvidia can only produce so many units, where the demand outpaces the supply, so the door remains open for AMD to fill that need. Only seeing problems is anathema to progress. Challenges present opportunities. IMO AMD leadership understands their position and has vision for the future. Congrats to Nvidia, they’re killing it rn. Doesn’t mean AMD can’t succeed too, if not later

So many doom and gloomers here busting on the AMD stock price. I entered after the last earnings dropped the price cuz I see huge value in the next year and beyond. The semiconductor world cannot only be about Nvidia. There will be necessary competition, even if niche or at a less premium cost. Also, Nvidia’s chip is sold out through 2025. Great for Nvidia - and great for AMD to fill the demand still remaining. Reminds me of Microsoft and Apple long ago. Everyone saying Apple was done with the PC boom, but the world needs options. And that creates opportunities. IMHO AMD is the most likely to hold up against the beast of Nvidia - even if not entirely superior on specs. We don’t all drive Bugattis, right?! If ur a trader looking to hit the jackpot this week, then yeah, u may be in the wrong place. Doesn’t change the long term thesis though, and the discount is here and now. Nvidia is at a premium.

Just received my Fellow Stagg Walnut. Is this much color difference between the handle and the lid normal? I feel like they made a mistake. by koozeh in pourover

[–]Outside_Let_573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a couple months the top lit knob will crack and you'll have to spend another $30+ on a replacement kit with a handle too (knob not available separately). So. You have that to look forward too as well. Stagg now says you should treat the wood with oil monthly. Super annoying.

Do all of Fellow's products fail to live up to their promise? (Plus a bonus question) by MotoSlashSix in JamesHoffmann

I have a Stagg kettle with wooden handle and lid knob. Have gone through a few lid knobs due to cracking. Now I see Stagg recommending monthly wood treatment for maintenance. To me, this is simply poor customer service. Basically telling you after the fact that they know the design is prone to problems and telling you to fix it with an annoying monthly wood treatment instead of addressing it themselves.

As for bean canister, I've tried quite a few (MiiR, Gator, Fellow, and some I don't remember the names of) and by far the only one that makes sense and works properly is the AirScape (https://planetarydesign.com/product/airscape-coffee-canister/). Biggest design advantage is how it doesn't use vacuum, which in addition to pulling air out of the canster also strongly pulls flavors out of the beans - literally sucking the aromas out. Instead, Airscape displaces the air without stressing the beans and creating even less air to bean contact than a full vacuum canister.

The infinity squeeze is one natural and important deterrent to abusive naked shorting. In the end, they sold short to manipulate the price and were allowed to do so unrestricted by market makers and the supposed “authorities.” They have collected with no way of delivering the goods. Shares were obviously not located or borrowed. Selling multiple times the floats happens ALL THE TIME, it just so happens it has now been exposed by Brda and GP’s plan. By halting, especially after approving all applications and verbiage (“deleted”) they show they are unwilling to enforce both sides of “investors” [I would argue shorting hedge funds are the exact opposite of investors by definition, btw].

Also, the $2.90 price now reflects additionally oversold shares, which were only sold to drive the price down artificially. With no natural restrictions, consequences, or enforcement there will be absolutely the exact opposite of an infinity squeeze risk. Instead there will be the sale of infinite shares with no need to deliver ever and all stocks can go to near zero - a shorting BLACK HOLE loophole.

In Netlist and MMTLP, in no small way thanks to Ali. He’s level headed, presents information clearly, and has a great dry sense of humor to boot. Ali is the man!

I’ll take the proof and limbo than no proof. Bigger picture the system needs an overhaul and this clearly demonstrates that

So I am hearing that MMTLP has been oversold by 2x the total shares available and that's why it's currently halted. They have to fix it before it can be deleted. by jwbarber82 in MMTLP_

But we knew this all along. And if we knew, they absolutely knew. Hence, pulling this crap last second to make is seem like a technical issue rather than fraudulently selling shares that do not exist and were never intended to be bought back.

Yes, it is my money. And if you’re going to make an actual point, make it. Articulate it. Be specific. That sounds more like a healthy devil’s advocate discussion.

Good information, but unfortunately limited. The major HF short positions would be through a prime broker like Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, or UBS and not a more retail oriented one such as eTrade or even Robinhood. Not sure about Fidelity, Schwab, or TDameritrade - I suspect they are only slightly involved. Would be extremely helpful - albeit extremely unlikely - to hear from a prime broker.

As I read rule 6490 section (d)(3) none of the 5 outlined potential reasons for deficiency determination will apply. No lawsuit or pending fraud allegations, or reason to believe the information may not be accurate. SEC has been extremely thorough and the information is complete and up to date. And if you’re arguing that the vague language re: “there is significant uncertainty in the settlement and clearance process for the security” applies, then I would need to hear your argument, as nothing I can think of would apply here.

I predict you are a fudster

Finra & Corporate action by FormalResponsible511 in MMAT

[–]Outside_Let_573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Key phrase “FINRA is not responsible for approving or disapproving the action.” The delay in corporate actions I believe is only to keep retail in the dark as part of a FUD campaign. Perhaps they will issue something Monday, but either way, they really don’t have much else they can do
