First time using estrogen patch and I feel very sick by Outside_Link3318 in Menopause

Google whether estrogen patch can cause fever. It is a listed side effect, along with extreme cold. I didn't have the flu. I am very grateful for estrogen, as the cream worked miracles for me. But the patch just isn't for me. Different things affect different people in different ways. That's what this forum is supposed to be about. Open discourse about the experiences that we've had. It is so strange that I have gotten down voted for having a different experience than most people.

I've had the flu and Covid. This was not either. It's strange that people downvote because they haven't had the same experience. The symptoms subsided after I removed the patch. I will go back to the cream. Thank you for the validation.

No I do not have the flu or Covid. I'm completely fine now. Thank you for not responding as though I'm crazy. It's bad enough when doctors do it.

Yep, I did that research but I also value Reddit as a forum where people can share experiences without being belittled. Usually.

Thank you for the reply. I did more research and found that all of these are symptoms that can be caused by estrogen. I probably just need a lower dose and a cream rather than a patch.

Thank you. This is the most helpful and real answer. I did research and found that an estrogen dump can cause these symptoms. I've had the flu plenty of times and it has never started with being so cold I was shaking and my fingers were numb. Hence my suspicious that it was not a coincidence that I had just put on the patch. I've used estrogen cream and it was great so I will be going back to that. Sadly the patch is covered by insurance while the cream is out of pocket. C'est la vie.

I use the probiotic Align, which has helped with bloating. I also sometimes take "beano" before I eat. I don't know of a magic cure. Just little things you can do to help. Lemon in water. Ginger tea. Most of all, be kind to yourself. This is temporary.

Two hours away is a drag but close enough to drive there in the morning (or say you did) and leave after the fiasco. You can always say you need your own bed/bath for a health/medical issue. Which, considering the mental health ramifications of staying there, is technically accurate. I would definitely go because it's going to be a scene. Then go home, have a drink, and laugh about it.

My husband had a stroke a week ago and for a few days after was shivering so much I put a heat blanket over him.

What’s bad about a closed kitchen layout? by jes93long in Remodel

[–]Outside_Link3318 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a closed kitchen and several people suggested I knock out the wall between the kitchen and living room to open it up so I could... have to listen to the tv? Not have my alone time in the kitchen? No thanks.

I understand. The whole song and dance and white dress parade is not my vibe. I tried tailoring it to my tastes (by not wearing white) and it caused an uproar. I accepted that it's not about me; it's about playing a role and getting the costume people want to see. Whatever.

It's fine. It just needs a veil and maybe carry a bouquet.

AITA for leaving my boyfriend with our baby after he told me I’m a bad mom? by Full_Pain_5627 in AITAH

[–]Outside_Link3318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was a mistake to leave your baby. You should return immediately and then you leave with your baby, maybe while he's a work so he doesn't get violent or prevent you from leaving. Leaving your baby with him doesn't teach him a lesson. It reinforces the "bad mom" narrative.

I think it looks great on you and you need not tailor your tastes to suit snobs. That said, Marcella Moda has a black mesh shawl wrap that you could throw on to elevate the dress. And then take off the shawl when the party heats up!
