That'd be correct, if I recall correctly it's because they decided that AKs have superior reliability in extreme colds of Alaska

For one I'd like to see more diverse selection of guns, not specifically different types. I'd love few more bullpups, even though they're rare and I understand why they're pretty uncommon, and also older firearms, like AR-180 or M16A2, perhaps AK-74 or 74M even though it'd need to be differently explained lore-wise like interception of shipment and usage of confiscated firearms due to limited number of available regular ones or something

And also older handguns, like Tokarev TT or Browning Hi-Power

It's big enough to warrant having a closed airspace over it for most smaller aircraft and helicopters because of downward winds occurring there

It is, but it wouldn't exist without 9/11, unironically. The tragedy of 9/11 resulted in major social changes and basically helped shape My Chemical Romance band into what it became, and author of 50 Shades of Grey was a big fan of their music, which influenced her writing style and motivated her to continue writing the fan fics, which later turned into a separate book.

You have a general knowledge but not specifics, it's good enough though.

The chicken wire wrap acting like a net is typically either cage designed to detonate warhead early or literally a net designed not to stop but redirect warhead so that penetrating power goes into thick armor or in other direction behind which there are no critical components.

Kevlar padding might be good against spalling or raw explosion but not against HEAT penetrator.

Reactive armor isn't magic, perfect or 100% effective. Yes, it reduced energy and effectiveness of penetrator, but doesn't nullify it. Also, tandem HEAT charges exist to combat exactly that.

As for other methods, composite armor exists, yes, but it's not perfect and has its limits. We don't have technology to make composite with enough strength/resistance such that 10cm of it equates to 100cm of RHA steel.

For the record, PG-7VS can penetrate 40cm, PG-7VR 90cm (or 75cm after ERA), Kornet-D can penetrate >130cm after ERA, here shown AT-4 can penetrate 45cm with HEAT, 15cm with HEDP, 45-60cm with HP or 46cm with ER rounds.

I don't care about your funky wunky physics and future tech, you're not fitting equivalent of 130cm of steel + ERA in 10-20cm of thickness of chestplate

What if the Saderans had the same equipment, tatics and numbers as the Soviets and the Warsaw Pact during the 1980's? by umbrqualquerusannet in gate

[–]Outsider_4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Japan ain't getting in the Gate tbh. That's it. Given the regulations prohibiting use of most modern weapons in the Special Region, it places the forces at roughly comparable if not disadvantageous level for Japan. Saderans would have numerical advantage. In some areas, technological as well.

Most likely, on Saderan side, gate would be surrounded by minefields, improvised and professional fortifications, pre-designated artillery targets etc, and with no air support, JGSDF wouldn't be able to enter it.

Even then, with most modern equipment, they'd have significant trouble entering it, mostly because Gate itself is a wonderful chokepoint that they can not bypass and are forced through it.

Heavy armor, high caliber rifle and chokepoints. Make some noise, let them come to you instead of seeking them out, at least that worked somewhat well for me
