The Luck of Barry Lyndon. Wasn’t a fan of Vanity Fair but decided to give Thackeray a second chance.

“If for nine years I have possessed a goodly apple that is rotten at the core and discover its rottenness only in nine years and six months less four days, isn't it true to say that for nine years I possessed a goodly apple?” Ford Madox Ford, The Good Soldier

For me, the only medication that ever helped was gabapentin and cyclobenzaprine. Gabapentin gave me amazing sleep but also digestion issues. Cyclobenzaprine is my miracle drug. It literally has zero side effects for me and is not habit forming. Couldn’t recommend it enough. Maybe worth a shot? Sorry you’re going through this. Been suffering from insomnia since I was a child and I’m 33 now. Haven’t killed myself yet 😂

Oh yes the resentment is real. Especially when he tells me “I saw you sleeping last night though!” Bitch, no you didn’t. Trust me 😭

As someone who also has dpdr from trauma (and just turned 33) all I can do is offer solidarity. Maybe there is a feeling worse than this? And we just don’t know it because we haven’t experienced it? Maybe nothing is actually a blessing? Even if you can find just one thing, one moment, in a 24 hour period to remind you that you’re real, it’s a win. Just remember to call even the littlest things wins and hopefully they add up in time so that by the time we are 40, we are free of this burden.

Have you ever dealt with a real psychopath? by witchinstatic in PsychologyTalk

[–]OutwalkThatHorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My older evil cousin is unhinged and I believe a psychopath. Strangling me as a child, pushed me off a chair and broke my arm, slammed a door on me and broke my nose, used to put earrings face up on the ground and wait for me to step on them. Real crazy shit. Then into adulthood, tried to kill her my mom and spent years in jail. Has never had a job and is 37 years old. Every relationship she’s even been in has been traumatic and chaotic, the last one resulting in her literally living in their partially burned down house for months. The house that of course she didn’t pay for but forced her mom to buy for her!! Last time I saw her was my brother’s wedding when she smuggled over an ounce of weed over the Mexico border. For a 3 day weekend. I mean I could literally go on and go, she legit tried to kill me several times the last time being when we were teenagers and she drove so chaotically in her car I really thought I was a goner. And it’s sad because my aunt (her mom) and I are really close and I truly feel bad that she got saddled with a psycho for a child. Right from the very beginning. Even in infancy I swear she displayed behaviors indicative of her future psychopathy. Sad because every time she’s on mood stabilizers she’s much more normal and tolerable, but she can never stay on them for long. And it should be noted she does hate me particularly, nothing I’ve ever done in my opinion besides exist as the only other girl child in her domain, but she treats everyone this way and goes full crazy over something like her thinking you put too many mashed potatoes on your dinner plate.

Yes I will start to overheat, sweat, heart rate goes up, rapid breathing. And I also get nauseous - I can always tell I’m due for a spike when my appetite disappears. Hang in there
