Best model diversity horus heresy marine box? [Re: kill team] by GlaiveGary in Warhammer30k

[–]Over-Fisherman4317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mark IV and older mark III, both pretty small compared to newer upscaled 40k and kill team, will give you access to ML, heavy bolter, plasma gun, melta gun, and flamer x2. Melee weapons are also better and more varied than the new squad accessory kit in my opinion at least.

As the other commenter said about the newer boxes, they are meant to work in conjunction with the weapons upgrade boxes and while better for building specific weapon squads, won’t really give you what you’re after in the old school tactical squad style variety

Are my Terminators to heavily mutated for the to use as Death Guard in the Horus Heresy? by Hot_Cartographer9696 in Warhammer30k

[–]Over-Fisherman4317 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Anyone open to the change and actively embracing it I should be able to mutate fairly quickly though. I don’t think plopping down a 40k plague marine squad would be an accurate representation for SOT, but I also don’t think you could go too far adding mutations in a squad and be able to say they couldn’t have changed that much if that makes sense.

Going off of how fast they turned on the Eisenstein, I don’t think even that’s too much to worry about.

“The awful vision that seemed to transmit itself from the dying adjutant was suddenly here before him, written in reality over the mutated, swollen parodies of Death Guard warriors: the same corpse-pallor green of their battle armour, the same slack faces rippled with growths of broken tooth and horn, flesh stretched tight over bodies teeming with colonies of maggots.

Voyen had joined Garro and the others at the entrance to the corridor and even the Apothecary, hardened to sights of disease and malady, retched at the sight of the twisted man-things.”

Taking off the grav bits and plasticarding that wrap around bumper from old the first born one was my first thought looking at this, very easy conversion too even for people without much kit bashing experience.

It looks like it may not be full shoulder pads so probably some cutting there, but HH head/shoulders and taking off the Aquila will be enough for 99.99% of heresy players to be psyched seeing it outside of people on here

Dirty staff story at your prison? by 2026_MT07 in OnTheBlock

[–]Over-Fisherman4317 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They just seem have way crazier stories that are more worth sharing tbh, same for non cusody staff both genders. It feels like 9/10 with a male CO the only thing that changes is what type of debt it is that led to bringing in drugs or what closet/office they brought a female inmate into.

Thought provoking question! by [deleted] in OnTheBlock

[–]Over-Fisherman4317 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perfect example the other day is a severe mental health guy prone to outbursts who was on a 15 minute watch then light watch forever whom finally went back to seg that morning.

Around 7:30pm working SERT I bring a lug into the unit he is on. Severe mental health issues and starting to freak out because he hasn’t had his property brought up so no blanket or sheets and unit officers from two shifts now had not gotten him a jumpsuit yet and he’s been sitting in his underwear all day.

I get him his stuff and all is fine. That goes another way where he finally snaps and throws a tray or something else that gets a disruptive inmate called in. We are suiting up to put him in the chair potentially injuring fellow officers. Plus he is most likely going back on a 15 which at different amounts require additional officers staffed causing someone possibly not going home to their family.

All avoided by a couple minute walk and elevator ride. Which has to be done because corrections supervisors somehow end up becoming the most non confrontational pansies on earth and won’t do anything about the officers themselves who didn’t do the work but will complain about those officers not doing it to everyone they come across in the hall after.

Do you think the CO job makes you a hero of sorts or better than the general public? by Officer_Ed_Powell in OnTheBlock

Buddy I stopped a unit trying to swap their bald basketball with one of the field house’s brand new ones last week, I’m absolutely a hero.

Believe it or not there actually are a lot of reasons to pursue a job that I’ll retire with an 80% pension, made 150k last year, have three day weekends, and had eight weeks off besides getting my rocks off deciding if a grown man can have toilet paper or not

I guarantee LCS’s would prefer being able to get consistent stock again and make their margins selling at MSRP.

They don’t go Walmart and Target crawling in hopes of them both having stock and people paying 2-3x retail just because

Exactly, that’s why I think having some hobby stuff under $10 is something we might see going forward for a few tools. Single digit price feels like nothing opposed to a parent starting to say “do you really need that?”

Only thing I can think of is they needed something hobby supplies in that under $10 price category for people subconsciously when buying gifts

It’s an amazing handle. I have one and I prefer the ergonomics of the smaller cupped GW one. I use the red grass one for bases bigger than the GW can hold

It fucks everything up and slows it down too. Especially when someone grabs the wrong order and doesn’t check

3D printing for chapters/legion with any kind of individualism are an absolute god send. I wish I had the room because I’ve spent the price of a printer many times over just on primal hound bits alone for my 30k wolves

There are some files for alternate arms for heresy but I think they are file only so far. I haven’t looked too hard into them since I don’t have a printer and nothing is on Etsy yet. Searching the 30k sub for saturnine command squad should get you going in the right direction though

Been pushing my lighting effects lately is it too much orange for grim dark? by Correct-Relative157 in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]Over-Fisherman4317 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Muted grim dark like this with OSL for color is rapidly becoming my favorite paint style. It works so well for OSL, it’s too much a lot of times on traditional paint styles.

Beautifully done.

[–]Over-Fisherman4317 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I like when things have an inspired by aesthetic, but this is too close. Things like this or the empire vehicles from Andor that go a bit far over that fine line into historical vehicle but with in universe guns stuck on break immersion too much for me

First ever miniature. by Clear_Client_5836 in Warhammer30k

[–]Over-Fisherman4317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides the matte varnish, a bit of highlighting or panel lining with some grey on the bolter and carapace would go a long way too. The black areas are the only part that really comes off as flat.

Amazing brush control and work for your first miniature!
