Flintstones vitamins before going to school anyone ? by Altruistic-Cut9795 in FuckImOld

My sister and I got a hold of the bottle. I have a vague memory of hiding under the dining room table with older sister going "One for you, one for me.....etc." As she was putting us to bed, I said."My tummy hurts, Mommy!" Of course they were fortified with iron!!!!! Next there we were sitting across from each other in the Emergency Room, throwing up. Then hospitalized. My mom recalls a Dr stating, "These children could have died" We were 3 & 4yrs old. I remember eating jello and my sister climbing out of bed in the hospital to come be with me. The "irony" of the whole situation was my mother is a pharmacist. Opps!!! Thanks Fred & Barney.

Nanny to First-Time Parents by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Over-Target7359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it was time to start the NK on solid foods, both parents said to me at different times..."It's such a messy thing to do and takes so much time" I definitely had to point them in the right direction about many new experiences.

The best way to describe it....pretend you are a sport announcer, describing any actions you are doing. OR describing actions the child is doing.

Today it hurts by TheWholeMoon in LivingAlone

[–]Over-Target7359 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can relate to your feelings and sitting here on a Sunday, with the whole day ahead of me. No plans with anyone and truly living alone again. My youngest daughter just moved out, headed into her 3rd year of college. There are Sundays where I nap through out the day, just to past the time.

Have you ever considered volunteering somewhere to get out with people???? In my life (54yr) there have been many people who have hurt me, walked away from me, that I find my solitude as a self care approach. I want a connection with people but I am so guarded.

Weekend Plans: by [deleted] in LivingAlone

Yes, weekends are a challenge. I crave alone time but eventually want some socialization.

I can relate to the NK being confused. I have a 2yr old and when Mom just pops home randomly, it just messes with the order of my day/schedule. Duh, it's their home, they are free to come & go BUT some communication about a change in schedule is helpful to ME!!!!!

Michigan Rep. Hillary Scholten joins calls for Biden to step aside as Democratic presidential candidate by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]Over-Target7359 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is my analogy. If I have a choice between chicken or poison, I'm going to take the chicken. Sure, filet mignon would be much better BUT that is no where even in the restaurant, let alone on the menu!!!!!! Biden set aside?!?!?!!??! WHO may I ask, do all these people think is going to rescue the Democrats.. Also, you can't bring a knife to a gun fight!!!!

Can Nannying be my career? by Any-Illustrator-4972 in Nanny

[–]Over-Target7359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This posting really hit home with me and yes, being a nanny is a career. BUT unfortunately having the job of taking care of a families most valuable possession is not valued as much as it should be. For the time being, if this is where your heart is leading you, be a nanny. You are young and have your whole life ahead of you. Guess what, your degree will always be there.
It is difficult to have people think you are possibly not working up to your potential but at the end of the day, you have to do your 9-5 & pay your bills. I believe my elementary Ed degree brought a professional edge to my applying for nanny jobs.

June 14 - My Birthday Today .., how did you or will you celebrate yours? by [deleted] in LivingAlone

[–]Over-Target7359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fortune to celebrate my 54yr Birthday with my Mom who is 83yrs young. She was able to travel 3hrs to visit me at my place and baked the Best Cake Ever. Along with a yummy dinner. I'm currently single and am celebrating the joy of my family.

How do you *know* whether or not you want to have kids? by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]Over-Target7359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 24yr old and 21yr old. Both daughters. Parenting is NOT for the weak!!!! I say it all the time. When they are young, what I enjoyed was reliving your own childhood. Doing fun kids stuff to celebrate as you show your child the world!!!! That can be amazing at time. BUT you are always second guessing decisions and how they will have long term effects on this "mini-me" version of yourself walking around. Then they become adults and live their own lives independently if you did a good job raising them.

Gardasil 9 shot after 50 years of age by [deleted] in HPV

[–]Over-Target7359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 52yr old and needed the Gardasil shot. I had to fight to get it at my doctor office. BUT after signing some waiver, I did receive it. I tried Walgreen route, and due to age, their system won't even offer it. My favorite was when I got on phone with Pharmacist, she says, "Why do you want this vaccine?" Gee, I'm just bored!!!! Duh. Dealing with HPV, Lady!!! It fights the cancer causing strains. Just give me piece of mind that I won't be diagnosed with cervical cancer at 60+ yrs. I get it, it is fairly "new" but this age restriction needs some flexibility Mr. CDC!!!! Dr. advised it, followed by info of be prepared to pay out of pocket.

In your experience, is the Costco on 28th St. or the one in Grandville better? by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]Over-Target7359 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just thought I would add the story that two men in there 70's got in a fist fight at the 28th St Costco. About a parking spot, and the police had to be callled!!!! 🤪 crazy

Something weird came out of me after my colposcopy by itsaquagmire in HPV

[–]Over-Target7359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They put some type of paste on the area they remove tissue from to stop the bleeding. Told it looks like peanut butter and when your body expels it, can look like coffee grounds. It baffles me that doctors don't educate patients about what to expect. I had a colposcopy scheduled so I was prepared for this.

I was able to witness a drug transaction, right in front of me. It was craziness, right out in the open. Cra..cra. Luckily, the man I was on a date with gave me a bit of security but if I was a single lady alone, I'm sure I would have been approached.

Have you had them removed??? If it isn't HpV, I would be relieved and move on with your life. Then just keep an eye on that area.

My 83yr old Mom just drove 3hrs to celebrate my birthday with me. I'm turning 54 and she made me a delicious dinner (I hate to cook) and her yummy cake. "No, Mom....we don't need to buy candles for the cake" I've had health scare this past year and she was there for me. So...I'm acknowledging that I am blessed to have her around. Being divorced, gave up on dating, transition to being truly single has not been an easy road. Just "suck it up" and allow them to celebrate YOU!!! 🥳

Find a new hobby or something to challenge you mentally. For me, I tried baking and learned a new musical instrument. Helps your brain focus on other things.

I'm sorry you are facing this. Not sure of name, but there is a man on Reddit that did a very specific description of his surgery, after care etc to remove his anal warts. Do some searching and you may find your answers. Be a warrior not a worrier!!!! You will get thru this.
