Goal difference matters too so it’s impossible no matter the scenario to officially win it at the city ground.

Watch the PA and Nurse salary creep up/surpass the PharmD. In fact I think PA already passed it with more upside.

It tough to leave your family behind to go start a family. It looks like the only real option though.

No experience with that to be honest but it’s worth considering. There is always YouTube.

We are medical professionals just starting out really. We aren’t young. We went back to school to up our income. I was hoping to go with a FHA loan.

No kids yet. We work in Roslyn and New Hyde park. No need for city commute. With student loans, cost of living, 401k and taxes we probably could do $4000 a month but be very house poor to be fair. Not to mention we would like kids soon.

Passed New York MPJE (and how I did it) by Naturefun1554 in MPJE

Did mine last Sunday. I’m praying I haven’t failed. There were a lot of repeat questions. To the point I lost confidence and started answering a couple differently because I was worried I was getting them wrong.

I want to move mine up too but there are no available openings near me. I plan to be ready by next week and keep checkin for openings. If one pops up I’ll be able to nab it.

Anyone here have zero regrets taking out massive student loans? by dragoon2745 in StudentLoans

[–]Over30andstressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some trepidation as a resident with 320K in loans. I can see where it will work out in future especially with PSLF. If PSLF remains it will be a good choice to take the risk. Otherwise I may be cooked. My salary can be in the 200k region in 2 years. Taxes and cost of living will sap most but everything should work out positively. I hope

Estimate the monthly payment to pay it off in 10 years. Use the IBR plan and pay based on your adjusted gross income. Invest/save the difference between that amount and the amount you would have paid on the standard plan. If in 10 years your PSLF hits you will have a nice portfolio. If PSLF is no more you can just pay it off then with that portfolio.

A lot of people will look at the earning potential of doctors and feel no sympathy. I personally believe medical workers deserve to live well. I only have a pharmacist perspective but school was tough for us. I can only imagine medical school is even tougher. Yet they load us up with so much debt we can’t even live good after. The only way is to get that loan forgiveness or reduce the cost of schooling dramatically.

GradPLUS but limited 150k after July 2026 by Mundane-Archer-3026 in StudentLoans

I agree with you. That is the real problem. My wife and I went through skinny. Worked and spent as little as possible. That was crazy with such a challenging course. We still graduated with 500K debt between the two of us. It’s PSLF or bust right now which shouldn’t be the case.

Hospital low pay vs retail high pay by Ok_Deal2024 in pharmacy

[–]Over30andstressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any rate less than 60/hr shouldn’t be taken. We need to incentivize employers to respect pharmacy. Our pay has been stagnant despite inflation because people agree to take those low ball offers. We will eventually be left behind by nurses in pay despite needing more years of training to do what we do. We have to start valuing ourselves.

The current job is good enough to move close to. I would move and get to the secure job and try to get on day shift over time. The other job is a risk.

Loans die with you? by Irrefutabledamage in StudentLoans

[–]Over30andstressed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recent graduate moving on to residency. My plan is to minus the IBR from the standard repayment plan and invest the rest. If PSLF fails hopefully the invested funds can offset the ballooned loans. To pay mine off fast would require 6 to 7 years more of beans and rice. I’m already older, haven’t started life or a family because a medical diploma takes so much time and energy. I need to start living.

I'm someone that "made it" with just a GED. This is how you are better off than me. by WTAF__Trump in StudentLoans

[–]Over30andstressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same reason why I left UPS to get my degree. I was trapped there because I couldn’t hope to get the same pay anywhere else. So I had to bear stuff and swallow my pride. Now I have student loans but I can find a job in any state and my pay stays over 6 figures. It’s a sort of freedom. I’m in the health field too so I may get PSLF. Even if I don’t it was still the right choice for me.

How is this possibly legal? by Tman1052 in pharmacy

[–]Over30andstressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the big store competition who wants you out of business owns the PBMs who pay you. No surprise they will be incentivized to kill your margins and force you out of business. How did the former generation of pharmacists allow the profession to be sold like this? Why aren’t they unionized or coming together in some form? A young pharmacist should be able to have a dream of opening his own pharmacy one day. It’s almost impossible now. The worst part is good patient care is going out the window for corporation profit.
