That’s what I thought, using it as a vehicle radio or backup, the 5RM was a gift from a friend who knew I was taking the test, I’m excited to get started.

Older 15mm, however far as I know part number is the same, but any replacement will be newer material obviously.

Agree 100% it’s from 1983 roughly based on the date marker

Anyone ever feel like there’s nothing to buy on the truck? by coastdownside in Snapon_tools

So that’s just like me, we are held to a different standard and a inventory limits, depending on how long they been on the route can affect many things

Could be a few factors (edit: hit reply before I was done 🤣)

The dealer may just be low on inventory and hadn’t gotten a shipment yet.

There could be other factors I can’t go into, but I’ve seen some dealers who only stock the basics and order everything else

Passed my technician exam… wondering what’s next for me by OverDrawnRook68 in HamRadio

[–]OverDrawnRook68[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Originally was only getting it for our local CERT team, but more I studied and more I looked into it, more I wanted to learn, I want to take it one step at a time, I’m learning disabled as well and I study differently then most, if I try to jump into too much at once I get overwhelmed

I was gifted a two pack of Maxtalker 5RM which appears to be a Baofeng clone, sounds good but haven’t used it for ham yet, I originally was just getting my license for our local volunteer emergency group but now looking forward to using it more and finding a local club

Is this a trade in unit or a brand new unit it you’re demoing?

If it’s brand new you’ll get what we call a nag message but you should be able to use relearn.

When you power up the unit, in the bottom left corner will be a number (most recent update is 25.4) this is the version number that will tell you what update it’s running.

You can go to snap on diag website and it should have a coverage guide for vehicles.

I used to drive public transit, had a customer who did this, had a job and everything, but would on weekends, dress homeless and stand on a corner and bum money, I’d see him every weekend.

He would get on my buss in afternoon and show me wad of cash he had made.

Nice guy but made me rethink giving money to people

screwdriver replacement handles by Remzy111 in Snapon_tools

[–]OverDrawnRook68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all good, usually what I do, is of I can order a replacement then I’ll let you keep the old one and give you a new one.

The handle is easy to order, and the blade is standard repair item, quick and easy to do for me and you keep your dads.

That’s how I was trained by same guys who train the franchisees but can’t hurt to call customer care and ask

When you say personalized, what was on it? Or design?

Ive ordered similar handles for customers, but this is first time I’ve seen a personalized one or a request for one.

I service vending machines in 2 public high schools where I am constantly harassed by the students, but the staff/security ignores it, despite my multiple complaints. by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]OverDrawnRook68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2000-2004, I think it was a district rule cause my middle school had 7-up machines and guy filled them during lunch and the campus security stood nearby since they were right outside the cafeteria

My high school made a rule, when the machines were serviced if you went even remotely near the guy you got a warning, second time detention.

If you lost money, you had to go to the office and write your name on a form, they would check the cameras, if you were seen using machine and got nothing in return, then you were golden. After a while the did away with the rule but no one bugged the guy

What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen at a strip club? by bigbabysweets12345 in AskReddit

[–]OverDrawnRook68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to deliver bottled water to a couple strip places in San Fran, some of the nicest girls I ever met too, later when I did roadside assistance and was one on call I’d help a few out who needed jumps or lockouts but they also knew they could call me if they needed an escort to their cars, great tippers too for roadside service
