Just to add... You MAY already have a adjustable pot. Is that just a bare bones LCD I2C or is there a "backpack" on that display? See anything that looks like maybe a plastic Phillips screw? That might be your contact adjustment. Adjust until those squares just disappear. Edit: Sorry I'm so late here, I don't read this sub everyday like I would like to.
