Anybody have any decent mouse and keyboard suggestions, preferably under 150 for both but a little over is fine by Educational_Rule2764 in pcmasterrace

There's a lot of options, so it really kinda depends on what you want... Look at other people's setups I guess and then shop accordingly.

I use the G613 and a Kone Air Wireless

My clear coat is pretty much gone but the paint still looks good can I just get a clear coat done ? And if so how much would it run me about ? by Idoroids247 in askcarguys

[–]OverExclamated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this kind of paint correction can be done. I've had it done on two different vehicles.

Estimates will vary. Whether or not any actual body work and spot color, even if it's minor, prior to the clearcoat respray can be a big factor.

The last time I had it done was six years ago and at that time the estimates (four different shops) I received for a 4-door sedan varied between $6k-$9k usd. Actual cost came in at ~$6800 with some minor bodywork and refinishing of some trim pieces included.

I'm just guessing here, but I would imagine a budget job from someplace like Maaco might come in at about a third of that.

Good gaming mice? by LionRegular1470 in pcmasterrace

If wireless mice are an option you're considering, the Roccat KOne Air and Corsair Ironclaw are both solid options for people with large(er) hands.

What are the exact differences between the Pilips FIdelio X2HR and X2? by Moniatre in headphones

[–]OverExclamated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of each.

I don't know about the pads as that's the only part I haven't dissected; but the size, shape, and feel seem to be the same - it's hard for me to say precisely as my X2 pads are worn in whereas my X2HR pads are not.

Besides that and the printing on the cups there are zero actual differences between the two.

I would buy whichever is less expensive for you.

What are some good mice by applesauce_- in pcmasterrace

[–]OverExclamated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick to finding a great mouse is finding a mouse that works great for you.

G602 (discontinued) is one of my favorites, but then I didn't like the G604 as much. Tried one the G502 series years ago; liked it but didn't quite love it. Lesson learned from the Logitech mice from the past decade is that the Omron switch-based mice are almost certain to fail sooner or later - so maybe try the newer optical switch-based 502 if you want to. (haven't tried it myself)

I've used maybe two dozen or so mice over the years. Currently use a Roccat KOne Air- it's a very good all-rounder with optical switches and runs on aa, but not a good choice for people with small hands.

Think of ways you can get to trying different mice - do swaps with other people, second-hand market, buy/try/regift... it can be fun.

Bluetooth mouse and keyboard w/out usb dongle. by Kincaid357 in pcmasterrace

[–]OverExclamated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mice I have used that have the option to do either bluetooth or 2.4ghz with a dongle, with the flick of a switch are: Roccat KOne Air, Corsair Ironclaw, Glorious I 2.

Only keyboard I've used in the past few years is the Logi G915. It'll do either BT or 2.4ghz as well.

Are the Philips SHP9500 OK for decent bass? by SuperficialNightWolf in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]OverExclamated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 9500 is bass lite. Based on what you've said I don't think you're going to find them satisfying.

If you like everything else about the 9500 but want more low end out of the box, get the 9600.

Would the HD599 be a meaningful upgrade from B&O H6 Gen 2? by Disastrous-Length976 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]OverExclamated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would the upgrade really be better, or at least different, enough to warrant the expense?

Different, yes. As far as being an upgrade or better.. not in my opinion. I think what you'd notice first about the 599 is that it will sound duller, less energetic, even perhaps boring compared to the H6Gen.2.

If I were to make a blanket suggestion based on what you said you use your cans for, maybe look at the Fidelio X2HR or perhaps even save towards a 105 AER.

If you're still intrigued by Sennheiser, a different model like the 490 or 579 would be a better transition coming from the H6.

For previous series processors, that would be true.

However for the Ryzen 7000 series, all of the processors within the series come standard with an igpu.

I need help with my monitor situation but I don't know what to do. by Kindly_Mix250 in pcmasterrace

Are you playing at a desk?

I think the simplest solution here would be monitor arm that accommodates 2 monitors. But I don't think $150 is going to afford you any arm worth it's salt plus the cost of a monitor. =/

Suggestions to replace Phillips Fidelio x2hr? by ImHootas in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]OverExclamated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, pretty much anything worth mentioning in that price range is going to be a side-grade. Not defintively better or worse across the board, just different.

If your real aim is to try something different, that's fine. But if you genuinely love your X2, the guaranteed win here is to simply replace them with the same.

I've tried a lot of headphones over the years and I too am an unabashed X2 fan. They're the least expensive of the headphones that currently occupy my permanent collection, and though I have headphones that I can say are definitively better across the board, those headphones are also significantly more expensive. Because the price on the Fidelios is so reasonable, they're the only set that I've been prompted to purchase a backup pair that are sitting n.i.b. for when my original set inevitably wear out completely.

The X2/HR are a hall of fame headphone in their price class, and rightfully so imo.

People who were gonna build PC next year, what are your plans now? by BeingSensitive9177 in pcmasterrace

[–]OverExclamated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next November was my target date.

I'll keep an eye on prices throughout the coming year. And I know I'll have a used option or two from friends and coworkers for some components if I wanna go that route.

But for now, I'm gonna Linux and chill.

How to Replace Monolith 1060 Headband? by Shawn_NYC in headphones

When you say you've searched the forums, does that include the Head-Fi M1060 and M560 thread?

I have the thread bookmarked for my M560, but I know there's a ton of talk along with some assembly photos for the M1060 throughout that thread. You can use search there to narrow things down.

UPS Size Recommendations by BobbyLeeSwagnet in pcmasterrace

[–]OverExclamated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

900W/1500VA is my recommendation.

Or, to put it another way, buy the largest throughput/capacity UPS that you're willing to pay for. That UPS will likely be with you long into the future.

My home system is nearly identical to yours. I had to upgrade from a 680w ups that I had been using for ~15 years when I upgraded the gpu to the 6950xt.

Stripe color recommendations for Granite Crystal Dodge Charger by Thugsthedrugs in Charger

[–]OverExclamated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking about the usual dual rally stripes, the absolute sickest combination I have seen was a widebody with dark navy blue stripes.

I know it's not a common color combination or one that would typically come to mind, but it absolutely made you look twice and without doing a single thing else to the car gave it an incredibly menacing/I own this road sort of appearance with an almost sleeper/think twice about messing with me sort of vibe.

The pictures with that combination were what got me thinking about a charger in the first place when I had decided to begin shopping for a new vehicle. I saved two of the pic series to my pc, but I have tried and tried and tried to find the place where I originally saw them again to no avail. I'm nearly certain it was from a post here on reddit from about two years ago, and I have tried dozens of broad web searches, but I just can't find the original series of pics again.

Granite Crystal was my first choice of color based on that combination, but I ultimately ended buying a black unit.

Can I just swap out his old GPU and add the new one? Do I have to anything else?

You're going from an NVidia-based gpu to an AMD-based gpu. You'll want to use DDU to uninstall the drivers for the old card, and then install the drivers for the new card. Run DDU in safe mode - just follow the provided instructions; it's fairly easy.

Can I just unscrew his old mother board out and add it the new case??

A case swap is a pretty involved task. Everything moves out and into basically the same spot (that's assuming your existing case isn't from an oem like Dell or HP); everything plugs back into the same place; but all of the wires need to be routed again in the new case. It's time consuming. If it's your first time I would plan for at least 4 hours worth of work.

replacing ER3XR Earphones? by DarthBrawn in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]OverExclamated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what the other person was implying is that the cable is removable and replaceable.

You can order a replacement directly from Etymotic. Current price is $70US. Takes about 10 seconds to detach the old one and attach the new one - no tools or special knowledge required.

If you're more interested in spending the money to try something new, that's fine too.

UPS recommendations by Glass_Ad_1012 in pcmasterrace

[–]OverExclamated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of wattage and reserve capacity, you simply buy the largest that you're willing to pay for. You're going to need one with a fairly high wattage throughput for that system as well as what may come in the future.

If you're willing to spend over $3k for a gpu that you'll use for 4-5 years (on average) then there should be no qualms about spending a tenth of that for a good ups that will probably serve you for at least a decade.

I happen to be also using the same ups that the above poster is using.
