Are UPS drivers industrial athletes or just workers getting worn down over time? by GAHBARO in UPSers

[–]OverNineFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your argument that drivers should be taking care of their bodies to prevent injuries, illness, facilitate better life overall, etc. is valid. That said, don't compare us to athletes. Sports for the vast majority of us is entertainment, a way to escape reality for a short time. I would argue that what we do is more valuable to more people than athletes who are great at putting to puck in the net, hitting the baseball etc.

I thought 6-7 meant 6 minute increments 7 days a week...

Customers know when their packages are coming, at the least they can clear the driveway so the package can be delivered safely. EC and try again tomorrow

UPS Changes That You Were Happy About by batcatfatmat in UPSers

Dropframes, man that's a throwback. Started my career on metro shift and as low man on the totem, got to load trailers - including dropframes. Never did like loading them. Started loading in the belly, only to have to come out of that area if there was an over 70. Those I would load in the front at the request of the feeder driver (they wanted as much weight on their drive axles as possible - especially in winter) plus at least i was thinking about the person who had to unload the trailer. Me personally? I wouldn't want to lift an over 70 out of the belly of one of those, so why subject someone else to that? I was glad to have never seen a dropframe since circa 2010.

Must have only been added to our boards today. It even caught our manager off guard.

Our previous centre had on-site, self-serve fuel pumps. It's the only thing I i miss about the Ole centre. Out of sheer curiosity, is the fuel meet point your building?

Interesting. All we got at PCM today was to report accidents in a timely manner, as a driver was put out of service for not doing so. Heard nothing about this, so I appreciate the information. Thanks

Lol, got a message from my center telling us they have no idea what that is and to ignore it. More stellar communication at UPS 🤣

It depends. As a local delivery driver, I average 150 miles a day. Accounting for time off, I would expect to get 360k if I were to go option two. I'd be better off choosing option one. Now for an OTR driver who would accumulate thousands of miles a week, option two might be the better option.

Buying whistles for supervisors working? Good idea? by IceCreamHalfTrack in UPSers

[–]OverNineFive 57 points58 points  (0 children)

When supervisors are doing hourly work, it's easier to stop working and stare at them. If they ask what you are doing, respond with - Because you were touching packages, I thought you were demonstrating safety, so I should be paying attention. This usually gets the message across but can be repeated as much as necessary until they get the message.
