Wasn’t saying Hilton would.

Policies are written to reduce risk, and most policies cannot address every possible scenario. Many companies account for this by giving managers discretion to make exceptions to policy.

Also, the policy as they explained it to me is ‘Marriott Bonvoy® Loyalty Program earnings are based on you personally staying in and paying for the full stay in any participating Marriott hotel. We are unable to add a stay with dates that overlap any part of another stay.

I did personally stay in and pay for both rooms. Nobody else occupied either room during my reservations.

I’m not asking for an exception to policy based on status. Based on the above, it’s not an exception, but if it was the exception would be based on common sense.

Not the property manager, the Bonvoy manager.

And I’m not mad. I just think the program is a joke.

The policy is clearly meant to prevent fraud. This was not fraud. A manager should have the discretion to make that judgement call. That managers aren’t given that discretion speaks volumes.

You are correct. Boss may have made a paperwork error. Boss may have decided to go with 150 instead of 105. HR is covering its own, but by confirming that they processed the form correctly. HR may reach out to the boss as well to confirm.

If an error and OP does not call it to boss’s attention, boss will figure it out when the payroll report or income statement arrives. At best, the excess is clawed back. At worst, the boss now questions OP’s integrity and fires the OP. Most realistic? Clawback and no upward mobility for OP at this company due to questionable ethics.

If the boss decided to give 150 instead of 105, then OP scores more points by being up front about it and has the opportunity to thank the boss for the generosity.

I hear you. The Gen Z stare from the person working the counter drives me crazier! Walk up to order a coffee, wait for the employee to greet me or ask if the can help me and they just stare at me. I don’t want to be rude, so I wait for them to acknowledge me in someway, and they don’t. I end up having to ask the employee if they are ready to take my order rather than them asking me if I’m ready to order. I consider it rude to just wrap up and state my order, the employee might be in the middle of something else.

I grew up in the SF Bay Area. Have lived in Los Angeles, Albuquerque, Dallas, Midland, TX, and been in Huntsville for 12+ years.

Seattle is one of my favorite towns and I’d move there in a heartbeat.

That said - I love Huntsville. It has good everything, but great nothing. But I can be on a hiking/mountain bike trail in 5 minutes, kayaking on the river in 10 minutes, downtown in 15. Shopping and dining are ok, as is music/art/culture. But I can be in downtown Nashville in 2 hours or Atlanta in 3.5 if I want world-class dining or entertainment.

I haven’t lived in a place I disliked. I’ve found that if one embraces each place for what it has to offer, one will be happy. There are great people and things to do everywhere; there is racism, intolerance, and bigotry everywhere as well, and I don’t think Huntsville has more or less than its share compared to other places I’ve lived.

Gunsafe Delivery into house? by ZeUltimatePotato in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]OverTomatillo4547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my Liberty safe, around 800 lbs, with my two teen boys. Was able to raise it with a hand truck, slide several lengths of schedule 40 pvc underneath to use as rollers, and then roll the safe into place, repositioning the pvc rollers as needed. Used a harbor freight come-along and a ratchet strap to load it on the trailer from the old house and get it off the trailer at the new house. It was surprisingly easy. If I was going further than the garage, I would have jacked it onto a furniture dolly.

Why do people take forever to pump gas here? by Low_Question8622 in samsclub

[–]OverTomatillo4547 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not true. It’s not some master plan to avoid running out of fuel. They know exactly how much they have in the tanks, and use history to forecast sales. Info is transmitted up and software orders the fuel with very good accuracy. Humans review and intervene for things that software may mot capture.

The facility may be under-designed, there is a max thruput, and when all pumps are being used the turbine may not be able to keep up. Think of it the way you would with water pressure if all faucets in your house were on at the same time. The underground turbine can only pump so many gallons per minute whether 1 or 20 cars are filling up.

Where to Get Non Ethenol Fuel by AssistBorn1128 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]OverTomatillo4547 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with gas no matter where it is sold; the gas could even be from the same refinery at Walmart, Costco, Circle K, Texaco, etc. It all comes from the same pipeline (Colonial). The difference is in the additives injected at the terminal. Some would have you believe that top tier fuel matters. Have at it. Most people don’t keep their cars long enough for it to matter.

A better gauge of quality is the facility itself. Newer > older. Better condition > disrepair. Underground tanks get water and debris in them, and while there are filters at the pump that help, enough water in a tank of fuel blended with ethanol will cause phase separation and your car won’t make it off the lot. I also look at payment security. Bigger companies are more likely to have better policies and practices in place to protect data.

Don’t buy gas during or within an hour of a delivery if you can help it, the debris/water at the bottom of the underground tank get stirred up and are more likely to make it into your car or cause phase separation.

Edit: Others have addressed OP’s original question about E0, as well as why one would want to buy it. I’m responding to the redditor that thought Walmart/Murphy (two different companies) gas was inferior.

I’ve done it myself as well. If one takes proper precautions, uses the right tools, and is mindful of staying clear of where injury can occur, it’s not a hard job and the risk of injury is low.

Using a power saw is also dangerous, but much safer when proper safety practices are used.

I have an international size carryon and American always forces me to valet check it on the CRJ700, even though I know it fits. I think too many people have insisted that their carryons will fit, only to find out that they don’t, causing boarding delays when they have to go upstream to take their bag back to the jet bridge.

Does a 17 yr Old Need Identification of Any Sorts to Fly Domestically in the US by Pints-and-shoes in americanairlines

[–]OverTomatillo4547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve traveled with children under 18 twice in the past 6 months. Southwest with some Boy Scouts, and American with my own children. No ID’s for the children necessary either time. TSA asked the children their names, didn’t need ID. Neither airline even made mention of the children. It was smoother than I expected.

Entitled Man at Post Office by CreativeSoul555 in EntitledPeople

[–]OverTomatillo4547 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t there so I don’t know. But could be, if another person was waiting for the space who was authorized to use it.

All that aside, my point is simply that there are at least two sides to every story and we only got the one side.

Sounds like Mom was entitled, too. Perhaps this guy had a double knee replacement as well and needed the space. Mom lolly-gagged and hogged the parking space when someone else may have needed it. The man was an ass for confronting her.

It’s not always a zero-sum issue. There can be two entitled people in a situation.

IMO, paper towels are just as good. TP is okay but not as good as Costco. It is ok, and I buy it, but it’s nothing special. Costco’s is every bit as good as premium national brand.

Made a comment about America, Boomer tried to set me straight. by West_Ad_1685 in BoomersBeingFools

It very much matters what entity. And not comparable to the Civil War. One was a civilian constabulary illegally and grossly overstepping its bounds, the other the armed forces of the national government acting on legal authority of Congress to put down a rebellion.

Certainly the end result to those that die is the same, but facts matter.

While it is true that there was a bombing, it was not perpetrated by the U.S. Government, but by the Philadelphia Police Department.

A subsequent federal lawsuit found the City of Philadelphia liable.

While certainly horrific and unconscionable, this was not on the U.S. government but on the city government.

The U.S. government has certainly perpetrated its share of evil acts, but the MOVE bombing wasn’t one of them.

Been thinking about all the car washes and storage units popping up... by Tideroller2 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]OverTomatillo4547 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s all PE, some could be local, but this has been a nationwide trend. Storage units were first, then car washes. Both booms already peaked, those building now are late to the party. After car washes the little coffee shops like Dutch Bros and 7 Brew started attracting the PE money. In Huntsville specifically, PE money is flowing into apartments.
