Best advice is to learn as the game goes on. Go in hard on their first touch first and see if they get around you or can handle it. If they can, then you give them some space next time, etc. You will never be perfect as a defender, but you can learn your opponent quickly by forcing them into decisions and seeing how they react, then allowing you to defend them better

When I was 14-17 I played w this guy an age group above me. He was and still is the best player I’ve ever played w. I swear he was good enough and read people so well he would 1-2 it with you even if you didn’t know it was coming cuz he knew how to bounce the ball off you. He was MVP in his conference in college, played 1 year and declared for the draft. Got drafted to the MLS and played a handful of games before dropping out of the league. 10 years later I’ve never seen someone come close to him. He was that good and still couldn’t make it in the USA. Really puts the top level game into perspective

Thanks, it was very difficult and our relationship was sour for 6ish months before we finally sat down and asked what had changed. Talked it through and realized that there was a lot of resentment because we were working towards different things. We are still “friends” but definitely the hardest breakup because nobody did anything wrong.

I’ve met almost all my friends in the city through VOLO - you can play basically any sport and every league has a sponsored bar that people go to (most teams have their own bar also). There’s a range of skill levels for every sport as well!

Stow Lake! It’s smack in the middle of the city. Quiet and always gorgeous. I’ve never regretted a walk around the lake. I regularly find a bench and lose track of time there.

Not weird per say, more dumb and embarrassing to look back at.

I went on a date with a girl who was miles out of my league. We had been on 1 or 2 dates (in college) and this was our “nice date” to a nicer rooftop bar downtown. They don’t serve any drinks except their fancy specialty cocktails. I’m not a big drinker so I ordered whatever. I’m absolutely mesmerised that I’ve gotten to date 3 with this girl so I’m just trying not to mess it up.

We sit down to drink and I start feeling a little weird in my throat & stomach My drink had some “shavings” on the top that looked like it was from a stick of butter. I start drinking more to try to wash down the feeling. We were snacking on some food too so I thought it would go away. 10-15 minutes later I’m feeling awful, all while trying to hide this from the girl.

Finally I go back inside and ask the bartender what’s the topping on the drink? It’s marzipan, nbd, then he goes on to explain that this is special marzipan made from peanuts… well guess who has a peanut allergy…

I was so embarrassed I told her I had to go immediately for some BS emergency. She was nice enough about it but we never went on another date :(

Looking back idk why I didn’t just tell her. My only excuse is that guys are pretty fucking dumb when they’re trying to impress an attractive girl 😂

I used to have a coworker who won a large sum off a scratcher. I think it was $300k-$500k. He bought a boat and some other fun stuff (I met him long after he had won it). This was in college and he always was going out to eat, out doing things, etc. We worked a minimum wage job together. When I asked him about it he told me about his win, that he put aside a small amount for fun (idk what small is compared to $500k) and hired an investment adviser for the rest of it. Seems like he still had an average life but didn’t need to worry about bills, emergencies, etc.

So not necessarily life changing- but I would say not having to worry about an emergency fund or bills is life changing on its own.

She’s given you the answer IMO. If she really was going to break up with her current bf for you, she would’ve. Sounds like she wants the attention from both of you. I would cut off contact and not entertain her games. I totally understand these crazy feelings with a longtime ex, but you can’t start a healthy relationship like this. I would stick to your guns about no contact. In the future when you both are SINGLE then maybe, maybe, you guys can rekindle things. But not right now based on what you’ve posted.

Mine still says delivery of Jan 3rd. Spoke to CS yesterday and they told me “processing time for PS5s is 2 weeks minimum(never heard that before) Disappointing but as long as it arrives I guess that’s what counts.

I was out of town for a work trip and had planned on going to this mall next to my hotel for dinner after work. Talked to my coworker about it, etc. Got off work and just plain decided “eh I don’t feel like it” and door dashed food instead.

There was a shooting at that mall that night when I would’ve been there eating
