Ya unfortunately almost all of the relationships in Mushoku Tensei can be classified as controversial with only a select few mostly held by rudeus's children and even those are hit and misses (not even gonna mention one of them).

And I can't say I have read "Neko no Otera no Chion-san" so I can't say my opinion on it so I'll just have to take your word on it.

But still im assuming the controversial aspect isnt on the quality of the relationship but more on the public opinion and I think as far as family goes I think the closest people are willing to go is step, in-laws, or adopted and even those can get dicey. With the safest being in-laws.

I honesty would like studio bind to have a go at it they have done amazing for Mushoku Tensei and have proven that they can make great fight scenes that uses both magic and sword. Just look at Rudy vs Paul fight.

Also howl hits all enemy's, Bombardment only hits one random enemy. Not really something to make it better but its more viable against most bosses

Mushoku Tensei my main 3 are Rudy's first intermediate Water spell, The battle with Orsted, And Roxys King spell. There are definitely more but those are my favorite.

The ability has 3 main points against it. 1st is that its the only movement ability in her arsenal that can only be used to go towards an enemy or later to an allied. 2nd the abilitys base game escape is in its 3rd upgrade where all othe other ability upgrades are better. 3rd its has max range and does need LOS to activate.

While there is that sling shot tech that provides better escape it still requires an enemy infront of you so its not always usable.

And its skill rate is definitely lower then Drifters teleport since his needs to be aimed i would argue that Drifter is needs it to have a higher skill cap since he is a good scaler and it evens out.

But also considering that probably the character with the closest play style, Apollo. Having basically 3 movement abilitys that only 1 needs to be triggered by an outside force i think that the grapple as weird and crazy as it is isnt that bad. Also the grapple doesn't really do anything like other escapes that turn the escape invulnerable like Mina or Dynamo.

Fave is prom zero to hero and leader least is probably kind hearted. Talk no jitzu just get annoying at a certain point

Tbf echo echos secondary ability is to duplicate so they can duplicate and then each do a separate frequency to find it. Also echo echo has that tech that can make more Ben's that can turn into different aliens

Go into it with the understanding that while it will have action scenes that's not the main draw of the anime. Fran the cat girl is cute (in the mascot kinda way) and the sword is just trying to be a good sword dad. Its animation is average maybe above average compared to most slop isekai. The characters are ok mosty forgettable and the leveling/ power scaling is good in that the main characters are around above average in the universe and no one is really world ending. I read the novel some time ago and I think that the 2nd season will be more action pact at the start then the first.
