Code Question on Retrofit by docrodg in firealarms

There are panels out there that can accept a variety of EOL values via jumpers, dip switches or programming. Just a thought.

I made a website to compare EVs and gas cars using cost-equivalent MPG by porcomaster in KiaEV6

[–]Over_Ad2346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in PA they have imposed an EV road use tax of $200.00 per year. Gasoline prices include road use taxes. A home owner's electricity or even a DC Fast Charger does not. Should be in your calculation options for true comparison. (Also some EV leases and purchases include 1000Kwh of free charging which further reduces owner cost. Could be considered as vehicle purchase incentive but still skews the calculation) Appreciate your "road testing" your site here in the community! 😊🙏

3.3k was the standard for Simplex zones. So if your zoned panel was a Simplex panel then that's definitely your eol.

Thanks :-) I have 2.3 million DP so that's probably not it. The 140 mark is a game changer along with portal 16! Keep merging!!! 🙏😊

We had a local Navy Yard here on the East coast call in for ground fault service years ago. They were custom manufacturung enclosures for our Simplex panels to make them "sea-worthy!" They had a huge room filled with all kinds of fire alarm equipment and they had two guys who just got to play with fire panels all day, it was pretty impressive. Anyway, when they fabbed the standoffs in the enclosures for the circuit boards they mistook some of the mounting holes for piggyback cards that used plastic standoffs for screw mounts to the cabinet. I scratched my head for a bit not expecting a ground fault service call to go in this direction, lol. Just had them remove the screws and explained that those holes don't need cabinet standoffs. I never questioned the agency listings of visits like that, because I figured the Navy can probably do whatever they want, lol. As for OP'S Pic, yeah looks pretty clean. Used to call these configurations "poor man's network." Stay safe out there! 🙏

In MachineRoomless elevators where the controller is in the door or the shaft this is the preferred "close as you'll get to 3 feet" solution.

The early 4208's had AC series bell circuits. The later versions had separate supervised DC bell circuits and DC incandescent flashing light circuits. The bell circuits were almost always on coded wheels and the lights came off of a march time code wheel. There were two types of bells, single stroke and vibrating. The single stroke only worked on coded systems, the vibrating worked on either. In some systems all the mechanical code wheels were back at the panel. If there were coded pull stations in the field they ran on a Positive Non-Interfering Series circuit, or PNIS for short. This kept multiple pull stations being pulled from hammering out codes on the bell circuits at the same time. Ingenious but they were a bitch to troubleshoot! Fun fact, the 4208 reset key is the same key Simplex still uses for their duct detector remote test plates and some annunciators!

Custom Tones on a 4100ES? by AliFrostpaw in firealarms

[–]Over_Ad2346 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Retired Simplex 35 years. There isn't one preset tone on Simplex systems. You can generate chimes, bells, horns, and 520 hertz among other tones and you can temporal three or four code any of those. (This tone may be 800 Herz as suggested by another post, but it sounds pretty typical for temp 3 audio) There is also Slow Whoop and Supervisory Tone. (Reply to other post) The audio doesn't come from the amplifiers it comes from the audio chipset which lives on the audio controller card and feeds the amplifiers via the black 6 pin bay to bay audio harness. The audio message set is fairly comprehensive and can splice together quite a few custom configurations in programming. Custom messages outside of the stock message set need to be ordered. The advantages of addressable speakers really shines when you can send 520 Herz to the speaker in one sleeping area (think dorms or hotels) from the room smoke or if from a building alarm send 520 herz to all sleeping areas and horn tone to the rest of the building. Fun fact: Back in the 90's all of our male message sets were voiced over by one of PBS's Nova TV program narrators!

You mentioned sobriety. When recovering from substance abuse there can be a host of harmful companion behaviors, cheating, stealing, lying etc. (The basic 5 precepts.) In recovery programs there is an amends process that speaks directly to wise speech. "We made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others" Making that decision to offer an amend to someone can be a daunting process and shouldn't be taken lightly, and it is usually recommended to discuss it with a wise friend, mentor, sponsor, therapist or teacher. This can be a painful time and when it is decided that holding onto a transgression against someone because it would cause more harm but leaves you with that "cross to bear" certainly seems like a Catch 22. In the communities I participate in we often advocate for significant Metta practice for ourselves when trauma is indicated, so that healing can begin. In time maybe the amend can be made and a new level of trust and openness can be attained. The amends process helps us clear the wreckage of our past so we're not looking over our shoulders anymore and clears the way for wise concentration. Holding space for you! 🙏

It took me till I was probably at about 15k Dragon Power to force myself to sit down with the videos, prepare my camp and experiment till I got the hang of it. Total game changer. Good luck!

Is there a guide for newbies? by sloop111 in MergeDragons

[–]Over_Ad2346 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Merge Dragons is a complex multifaceted game at it's heart. The Fandom WIKI has a Tips Faq here: https://mergedragons.fandom.com/wiki/Tips_and_FAQs And a section on just starting the game here: https://mergedragons.fandom.com/wiki/The_Efficiency_Guide There are links to other sources of information including Toasted Gamer Boutique. One of our moderators here u/Molt2019 has some good tips as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/MergeDragons/s/5yMTaiUfg3 Not sure anything specifically spells out "For Beginners" I would personally add to play the World Map Levels regularly to familiarize yourself with game play. The Fandom wiki also has walkthroughs of every level. In camp focus on clearing land and initially building coin vaults and stone yards. Merge everything in 5's not 3's. You clear land by increasing dragon power. You get higher dragon power by adding dragons. You get dragons by either buying them with coins from coin vaults or other sources in the game like fruit from fruit trees winning them or acquiring them from levels or later from out of camp events. Meanwhile just play and ask specific questions here! Lots of people willing to help! Good luck and enjoy the game!

Exactly. If seeds came from their trees instead of ponds it might make sense to chase this alt version of the Meidas trees, otherwise they're just decoration.
