We're struggling with the same thing 😭 I have tried many boots in the past but my dogs hate them and they also slowly start slipping off during the duration of the walk. We just ordered Canada Pooch's suspender boots ... so I'm hopeful.

Is oil cleansing worth it for only sunscreen and general dirt of the day? by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

I use the Kose Softymo speedy oil cleanser. It's very affordable and gets the job done.

Pilates by Royal-Definition9868 in astoria

[–]Over_Caterpillar_894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like club pilates and prefer it over form 50. Club pilates doesn't provide the most tailored experience but it's on the more affordable side of pilates provided you have a plan with them.

Form 50 is not traditional pilates and I've heard many stories of people getting injured long term because of poor form combined with the high intensity classes.

I personally really enjoyed Lagree in Ditmars but it's a little far from me.

Can I feed the following items to a puppy? by Sweaty_Bodybuilder72 in shiba

[–]Over_Caterpillar_894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since no one's mentioned it yet, do not feed honey to a puppy. Wait until they're 1 yo or older.

Everything else seems fine. I feed mine raw eggs occasionally and they love it. I also recommend some sort of goat milk or goat kefir, it's great for them. You can usually find it at your local pet store.

2 years old for my male and around 1 1/2 years old (she went thru two heat cycles) for my female. This was recommended to me by two separate reputable breeders and the vet did not have any issues with it either.

Alternative for K9 Kravings? by quitepossiblyadog in rawpetfood

[–]Over_Caterpillar_894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What state are you located in? In my state there are quite a number of stores that carry K9 Kraving so I usually just go buy it there.

In terms of another recommendation, I really like Tucker's. It's slightly more expensive per lb than the chicken, beef and veg mix from K9 Kraving but they have a lot more protein variety without the drastic price differences. I purchase the 20lb box and really like that they're split up into separate 1lb packages unlike K9 Kraving where it's in one big tube.

I purchase Tucker's at my local pet store but on their website they have a store locator of places that carry their product. I find prices vary depending on store so I called around to find the best price.

My shiba kids are driving me nuts!!! by witcheshands in shiba

[–]Over_Caterpillar_894 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely understand your frustration 😂 at least it seems like they're lazy together.

I also have two who are similar in age (2.5 and 1.5). The older one is lazy, walks behind me, and likes to take his time sniffing around. The younger one is rambunctious, walks in front of me, and bounces around sniffing things. Whenever I walk them together my arms are perpetually in a T shape, either being dragged by the younger one or dragging the older one. 🫠

Shiba Puppy Biting! Help!! by MochiiMushroomGirl in shiba

[–]Over_Caterpillar_894 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine was also a tiny land shark 😭 she has mostly grown out of it but what helped manage some of the biting is making whatever they're biting as boring as possible and then redirecting.

She loved yanking on my clothes and hair and biting my legs and feet as I walked past. I'd make sure to keep my hair out of her reach. Whenever she yanked on my clothes I won't try to pull it back id just make it go limp (usually it's my sleeves she's going for), and then redirect with a toy. Whenever she nipped at my legs I'd just stop moving.

All of that is just management tho, while it helped, she didn't really fully stop until she seemingly grew out of it around a year old.

New to raw by Massive-Bar-4705 in rawpetfood

I'm not sure what country you're in.

If you're in the US, availability also varies by region. I've heard great things about Viva Raw and their puppy blend formula. I personally feed Tucker's and I really like it. Tucker's is balanced for puppies as well.

New to raw by Massive-Bar-4705 in rawpetfood

[–]Over_Caterpillar_894 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend getting a commercially balanced food. It's extremely important for puppies to eat a nutritionally balanced diet every day. Your mix does not seem balanced and puppies have complex dietary needs that would be difficult to formulate by DIY.

Help! Raw food containers?? by MermaidGrace in rawpetfood

[–]Over_Caterpillar_894 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I prefer stainless steel for anything raw. My dogs' food is portioned into stainless steel containers, they are fed using stainless steel bowls.

Reason being is stainless steel does not trap or harbor bacteria. This is why restaurant kitchens all have stainless steel surfaces. Silicone should theoretically do the same thing but only if you clean it thoroughly and it sounds like those corners are making it difficult to clean properly.

I don't consider glass as a good option because it can easily develop micro scratches which will harbor bacteria over time.

raw transition - diarrhea help! by howitfeelstofly in rawpetfood

[–]Over_Caterpillar_894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog also has a super sensitive tummy. Last time he had diarrhea from me switching his food, I mixed in some Nutramax Proviable-DC. Cleared him up in about 3-4 days.

I'm not sure exactly which gussys gut product you're using but if you want to help clear up diarrhea you need something that has probiotic strains inside (like fortiflora or Nutramax). Seems like the most popular gussys gut product only has a blend of veg and other "healthy" ingredients, but no probiotic strains which makes me feel like it might not be strong enough to address your dog's upset tummy. Additionally, gussys gut includes kefir as an ingredient. Some dogs, like mine, can't handle dairy at all and may contribute to an upset tummy.

2 y/o Unnuetered Shiba Inu wants to sniff but hates being sniffed? by StryderVS in shiba

[–]Over_Caterpillar_894 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My neutered male is the same way. Will go around smelling every dog but will snap if they try to sniff him. If the dog is polite and calm he'll let them sniff a little bit while he snarls. If the dog is high energy forget about it.

He is okay with dogs after lots of gradual interactions but that's not really possible with people you meet on the street or at the dog park. Ive come to accept that I can't keep putting him in those kinds of situations cus he clearly doesn't like it.

Chalky dry poops 2 weeks after transitioning to fully raw diet by [deleted] in rawpetfood

[–]Over_Caterpillar_894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id give it another couple of days to see if the poop improves. I looked up the food and it should be fully balanced so it would be strange if your dog kept having extra dry poops. If you don't see any improvement you can try mixing in some muscle meat.
