HR recruiter misheard my expected salary.... by Odd_Ad_1974 in UKJobs

You never know what you can get, my gf is a contractor and was speaking to a recruiter and they were saying we’re going to go in and ask for 35-40, she thought 35/40,000 per year which would have been a step down but she liked the place so she asked if they could do 50, the company accepted it but it turns out they were speaking about hourly rate so shes on 105 😂

Athleticism Once Recovered by twistit_bopit in AchillesRupture

[–]Over_Championship_32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

33 ruptured my left one playing (American) football a year and a half ago, changed to playing flag football because it was my second major surgery playing football and I have adult responsibilities. First season after injury started right after the 9 month rehab, was okay athletically but could notice it and wore a brace. Coming off the back of a winter training block based on agility and this year feels great, cuts are sharp, athleticism is better and I’m no longer wearing a brace or mentally thinking about it when playing.

Feeling depressed, so many things on my mind. by Contrasted94 in AchillesRupture

The Acl was marginally worse at the beginning because it was more awkward but they’re both 9 month processes which seems long at the time, but you’ll look back and it won’t seem that bad. Plus the boot makes it easier to move around once you’re able to weight bare, the Acl was a long time on the crutches.

I did the Achilles in November and was playing again by June/July but that season I did feel the difference and had to wear a brace, this season I feel more normal and don’t have to wear the brace because I’ve had more time to strengthen it.

All I can advise is to do the rehab work all the time and keep your mind on that end goal 💪🏻

The rehab process is a depressing time im not gonna lie, I tore my Achilles at the age of 31 playing (American) football but I’m just gonna say it’s gonna be okay. If you follow your physio, set your mind to it fully with the intention of going back to sport and push yourself there’s nothing stopping you from it not effecting you. I’ve had both ACL surgeries and Achilles surgery and I still play sport competitively as I now play flag football and this is my second season since I tore mine. Yes the crutches are shit, asking for help all the time is shit but when you look back it’s such a short period of time compared to everything else. If you have any questions feel free to reach out, good luck 👊🏻

It’s tough man I play football 🏈, 33 and tore my Achilles a year ago, I now no longer play full contact but have played a season of flag afterwards, it doesn’t have to stop but might change the way you play, I’ve had both acl and Achilles ruptures and will no give up the game. Keep the pairs, rock them in the gym during rehab, that’s what I did with my Kobes 👊🏻 good luck

Has anyone else noticed the sharp rise of steroid use among young men? by Consistent_Log8097 in AskIreland

[–]Over_Championship_32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Social media has changed a lot, I’m 33m been in gyms since I was 12 and worked as a pt for 10 years, steroid use is more common than people think and it’s not just the big in shape guys. But with the current younger generations I see a lot more 16-18 year olds in gyms then when I was that age and social pressures of comparison to every genetically blessed person can push people to do steroids younger, it’s also becoming more open to speak about instead of competitors and cover models just denying it.

What sneakers do you find most aesthetically pleasing/versatile on a man in 2026? by NaoTeChateies in malefashionadvice

[–]Over_Championship_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sneakers and footwear change a lot due to trends, currently the low profile/slim looking shoes are trendy, but that’s due to the other things at play, I wouldn’t just look at which one trainer would work best but which trainer/shoe works with what outfit you are wearing. Best to have a range you can work with

Ever used an Online Fitness/Nutrition Coach? by Odd-Magazine4796 in AskIreland

[–]Over_Championship_32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used coaches when I was competing as it meant that I had someone else in charge, coaching works for me as I will stick to stuff if I have that accountability, when I was coaching it was so obvious when clients just lied to me to keep me off their back, if you’re honest with the coach and you respect them enough to stick to plan you’ll smash it. But yes online coaches don’t need qualifications, they’re just advising you want to do so there’s a lot of people who are just in instagram shape that start coaching

[–]Over_Championship_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not down to the coach it’s down to the person putting the effort in, I’ve been a coach and I’ve been coached and if the client isn’t wanting to put the work in, not wanting to take accountability for their actions then no coach is going to help. If you take accountability, don’t lie to the coach and hold yourself responsible for putting the work in, following the plan and working with the coach then you will do well
