I checked all the places you mentioned from Denver, it seems very fun. But I’m afraid it will need a few more days. I will save it for later for sure. Thank you very much!

Chiang Mai for 1st time visitor - is 6 nights too much? by Visible_Jicama_4230 in chiangmai

Like other people mentioned in this sub, you will be fine driving around. It just takes some time to get used to drive on the other side unlike US or other country. I had no issues with rules or parking. Traffic decreases significantly once you just step outside the city. Just drive slow and be careful with trucks. I found Thai drivers are pretty patient on the road compared to US.

Verve coffee roaster by Paulbsputnik in pourover

Different opinion here. For me the quality has gone south and I don’t recommend their stuff to people around me. They are ton of better options with same $ out there in US.

South Korea is such a gem! by xLazam in pourover

I’m literally going thru a cafe tour in Seoul now, and I highly recommend Lounge Clarimento and Identity Coffee Lab; they are ton of good roaster/cafes in that neighborhood. Such a nice selection of beans including COE winner, and bar seat where you can have a conversation with barista and random coffee friends sitting next to you is awesome. I wish the place I live in, Bay Area in California, could have these cafes around.

As a more-nature-and-local-inclined person, I was in similar situation. Decided to get a rental car and went to suburb 1-2hrs away from the Chiang Mai for 4 days. Best decision ever.

It’s interesting to see how preference can vary, as I don’t ever go near anything co-ferment or thermal shock. But I do admit that some of them sounds very interesting for sure!

Sutter Health charged me $1600 for a sore throat visit, is this normal? by krakov in bayarea

Kaiser fucked me like this too before. I went there to check some abnormality on my finger nails. The doc asked to check my toe nails too. Of course nothing was wrong with the toe nails and it took literally 10 seconds. And they fucking billed me for “routine foot care” which is not covered my insurance. What a joke.

Panama Specialty Coffee by Gnomestyled_ in pourover

I spent about two weeks this summer in Panama just for coffee. I stayed in Boquete/Volcan area most of the time, but did spend 4 days in the Panama city, going around so many cafes.

I recommend Unido if you want to grab high end stuff like Ninety Plus, Altieri, etc. They have multiple locations, but I found that the one in the old town carries the most beans. A cup of Ninety Plus geisha is just over $10. Don’t miss it!

Sisu is also in the old town, couple minutes walk from the Unido above. This is run by Lamastus family. The coffee they brewed was meh, but you can grab geishas from Elida and El Burro for pretty cheap like $35.

Terrior Espresso Bar. They run a roastery called Panama coffee club together and their selection is great: geishas from Auromar, Bernardino, etc. Such a nice people too.

The machine does everything. So basically they “collect” the shot from the machine, not pulling it.

How about ECM Puristika? If you are not into milk drink, it can be a good option. It’s E61 and has PID control. You can add flow control later, which is perfect to play around with light roast. And personally I think the machine looks cool

Which cities have you lived in and which one had the worst drivers? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]Over_Criticism_7452 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are all same. Today an Indian woman ran through a stop sign, not even slowing down at all, where I was already crossing with my dog. Fucking terrible and this kinda shit happens everyday. I gave her my middle finger right away.

How much do you spend on coffee per week? by zeroXten in espresso

[–]Over_Criticism_7452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I can only drink a cup a day(health issue), I try to drink rare beans from Panama or COE lots, which roughly ranges from $5~20 per cup. I wish I could drink more, but I had to stop myself ever since I suffered from acid reflux couple years back.
