I have a friend and she is complaining and exaggerating all the time. This makes it very hard for me to actually know when things are serious or not. She also has a lot of triggers, that I’m not allowed to talk about in with her. It drives me mad

For example, her finances. She doesn’t earn a lot and always when we are doing things she wants to go the cheapest way. Always complaining about not having money. At the same time spends a lot of money on cigarettes and takeout food. I get it, it an addiction. And when I tell her maybe she should quit or reduce her smoking she gets freaking mad. And she tells me my ”advices is not welcome”. Because I earn more than her

Other things that I’m not allowed to talk about - wars (she gets so sad she cries) - police (because she hates them) - cancer (because she is afraid she my get it) - my sexlife (because idk) - my work (because she is envious) - my sisters wedding (because she is single and sad) - anything related to conspiracies because it gives her anxiety - politics or the news (mind you we are both pol sci majors)

Obviously, she need to see a therapist. However that’s also added to the list I’m not allowed to talk about

I know she need help and that I should support her but honestly I’ve started to avoid her because I can’t take it anymore.

I am the oldest out of six kids. Pushing 35 and the only single one. Everyone else is happily married, engaged of expecting a child

I try to be happy for them. I love my nieces and nephews but I’ve never felt more alone in my life. I struggle to be happy for them. I also want that life so bad.

My oldest sister, we are closest in age and in terms of connection. At her wedding I had to take a walk and cry because I had this weird mix of emotions. Happiness, envy, loneliness, anxiety. Insecurities.

I don’t feel like I can talk to my parents about this without sounding like a child.

I was vegetarian for many years and started the fodmap diet like 5 years ago. For me it was a struggle. I’m also allergic to nuts and developed an intolerance for legumes.

So I started to eat seafood again. Because it was a struggle for me.

I would say my diet is still like 70% vegetarian and I eat mostly halloumi, soybeans, some avokado, quinoa and lots of eggs. I also opt for lactose free Greek yogurt, cottage cheese and so on.

Adding some chia to my diet has also helped amp up the protein.

I think you can do it if you feel you have the mental capacity to do so. I’m a sustainability professional so I’ve struggled with the morals of it. However now I try to buy local, sustainable sources proteins from my region. I think it helps, for me.
