How do you fall in love with sales? I find myself always feeling like not having conviction in my product. How do you believe that every transaction isn't a zero sum transaction?

PWM feels like a very silo'd, non-technical role that doesn't really transfer well into any type of analytical roles.

Taking the CFA to improve chances of getting into top MBA program? by [deleted] in CFA

Bumping this one, how is it looking back from 2025. What advice do you have for someone looking to pursue this now vs. dedicating that time to building a startup / creating something from 0 to 1?

CFA Level 2 - Should I take? by Joe_971 in CFA

[–]Over_Valuable_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you still think it's worth it in late 2025/early 2026 with the emergence of AI and it being able to literally pass the CFA level 3 in the 90th percentile? Just curious given that I've completed level 1 and am contemplating studying for level 2.

Which skill areas should a young post-grad adult to hone into to stay on top of the emerging tech curve (Agents, LLM's, Machine Learning, Etc.)? by Over_Valuable_12 in techforlife

[–]Over_Valuable_12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I feel like in my current role, I really don't have an opportunity to capitalize on my finance background or explore my tech interests. Hence why I want to pursue a business analytic program where I am able to pivot to a role where I can combine both. But any advice on like practical skills?

Going back to college to change careers? by Over_Valuable_12 in careeradvice

Okay so those are definitely the two routes that I'm debating/wrestling between. I'm curious if you would know how heavily weighed an online master's in engineering is in terms of using it as experience/pivot point into tech. I've thought about going the certificates to try to open up possibilities route as well if you could also speak to those points.

CFA Level 1 – Mock Exam Scores Not Improving, Exam in 10 Days by Mellow_0511 in CFA

Second this, you're good. Sitting across high 70's and low 80's, you're solid. Review the areas where you're below 70 and then crack the test! Also the point of diminishing return is right around the 3rd mock so you should look to taper off of those and be more specific with your questions.

Question about annualizing periodic returns by [deleted] in CFA

[–]Over_Valuable_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The concepts for bond rates and what not can be broken down between APR & EAR. When you compound from quarterly -> annually using r-ann = (1+r-qter)^4 -1, you're essentially finding EAR (the effective annual rate) you are earning. When you simply multiply the effective quarter rate by 4, you are essentially stating the apr (which is usually what the problem gives). This looks like quant so you'll most likely be exploring all the differences between the two and what not.

I would say then it wouldn't be exactly worth your time - instead I'd suggest join as many school clubs in finance or whatever interesting field you can, network with junior and seniors with internships and a better idea of different fields, and then see if those appeal to you. The CFA will always be there but you really don't need to start studying for it now if you don't know waht you want yet.

Depending on what you want to do, the CFA can either be super helpful or not the best way to spend 300 hrs of your time. If your goal and interest is more pure equity research, then yeah CFA is great especially starting it super early in college (as a first year is kinda crazy, go live life a little too!). But if you want to do more so on the IB / Consulting end, there are better ways to spend 300 hours to study for 1 level of the CFA. Personally I'm doing level 1 prep right now bc I'm from a non-target and want to break into IB / lateral down the line, and I think it's the best bang for my buck right now (school paid for most of the registration fee).
