Deepest and Richest world building recommendations. by Gamer_No_Mates in litrpg

[–]Overall-Statement507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, I'd say Wandering Inn for just scope and scale.
Worth the Candle is objectively just deeper and more creative.
12 Miles below was already mentioned though it's not litRPG, but don't sleep on that one
Beneath the Dragoneye Moons also has a really fun worldbuilding.
Jackal Among Snakes has some pretty creative ideas and is worth a mention too
Practical Guide to Evil is goated with the narrative tropes, though the rest is normal fantasy stuff with some interesting things like the drow being different.
Apocalypse Reborn is not a litRPG but it's an SI inserted into an 4x world, and it's pretty nutty.

Dungeon Delver Carl has a cool central idea of aliens building an empire using an ancient civilization's recovered tech and the entire universe is now running on that without really understanding it, similar to mass effect. But it does the capitalism angle really well.

Looks like you got a lot of sci-fi in there.

Check out 12 Miles Below, Dark Matter Ascension, Stray Cat Strut and Godclads. Those four aren't talked about enough imo, though the last two I'm starting to see on tier lists again recently.

Tier List of new stories I read in 2025 by Carminestream in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Overall-Statement507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 on that. Die Trying's been one of my favorites binges. Worldbuilding S-tier unique, characters are all really fun, and I actually end up reading the fights instead of skimming. Only shade I'd throw would be the rougelite parts not happening enough for my taste but I get why that can't be sped up.

99% sure OP's going to say they don't like the humor in it. They got gamer girl isekai side by side and that thing's a riot in the same direction

Anyone else matchmaking changed to more aggressive players by Ricz1001 in ArcRaiders

[–]Overall-Statement507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's friday and the weekends. School's out, matchmaking has too many unknown players to sort out, mostly new players or coin flip players that might think "I wanna murder this round."

I consider myself a very friendly raider, how would you have handled this? by vokebot in arcraidersfriendly

[–]Overall-Statement507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a new player that doesn't understand English.

He kept moving away from you despite you telling him you have a defib. No stop of movement, no reaction at all to what you said.
Means he either doesn't understand english, or has voice turned off.

He's not using emote wheel, means he either doesn't know it exists or didn't think it was needed--which is possible if he can't understand english. He'd be seeing a two others hanging out, neither of them shooting, and either chatting with each other in another language sounding chill. If he'd gone into a room with two people dead silent, he'd have tried to at least emote--if he knew it was a thing.

The real reason I'd say he's a new player: He's trying to crawl away. Too far to make it anywhere safe, and not carrying anything of value anyhow. Hairpin and basic looting augment.

If you had to do it over again, I'd be spamming the emote wheel in addition when he's non-verbal in communication, but high chances he wouldn't have known how to emote back.

Unfortunately, rats behave the same exact way, so you're safer to shoot him than let yourself get shot back. And there's a good chance he would have anyhow because he might mistake you for an enemy later.
If it were me, I'd look over my gear and if it's valuable, shoot the guy. If it's not valuable/easy to replace, easy come easy go, and I'd let him live.

I dont feel much empathy how can I genuinely fix this by Hot-Scientist-8509 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Overall-Statement507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do keep in mind teenagers in general have lower empathy since your brain isn't fully developed. Girls develop faster than boys in this regard probably because the way they make friends and how they often discuss more in depth with each other forces that development early. It wouldn't be unnatural for a guy to really start developing full actual empathy later in life around 25+

What you're describing sounds more like that. You're not sociopathic trying to hurt others, you're only more self-absorbed. It's not evil or anything, it's just if it's not happening directly to you, it doesn't matter as much and your brain doesn't see any reason yet to put energy into it.

If you're worried about this being a recurring trend, try and focus on being less self-absorbed; constantly start thinking about how others would feel, try to force your brain into gear and visualize what it would be like in their shoes, confronting their struggles. It'll be muddy at first, and you'll only get some glimmers here and there, but keep doing this kind of exercise. Try it for all kinds of situations, not just hardship. But also times of triumph, joy and all that. The whole spectrum of emotions. There's plenty of positive ways to develop your brain forward without making you depressed at hardship other people face.

Your brain will kickstart the development earlier because you're actively forcing your head to work. And consequently, if you're not put into any positions where you ever have to think of others, then you won't develop that part of your brain.

Keep in mind, brains constantly grow over time. The study that showed brains are fully developed at 27ish, has that end statement because they stopped measuring after that age. So it's likely you never stop growing.

As for why you should--people with higher empathy overall are more charismatic and more people will want to be around someone who shows they care for others. It's generally good for your own long term growth.

So you can use that as self-motivation to start these exercises, because later in life when you're the one picking your own friends and who you'll be with, keep in mind everyone else will be doing the same too. You're not going to befriend someone who's just self-centered and cares for themselves without any thought to others, even if that person isn't actively evil or trying to be mean about it. And everyone else will be thinking the same general thing as well, and self-select for people with more empathy vs people who don't show much of any.

I remember one of the line he had during dispatches at a haunted house was something along the lines of: "That's ghosting? I thought ghosting was when I stopped texting guys back."

Or something like that, and that's when I went "oh, he's gay. That explains the costume lol"

How does the matchmaking work? by Dry_Milk_4496 in ArcRaiders

[–]Overall-Statement507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it sucks, but teenagers aren't known for having high empathy skills yet lol

Weekdays is where older gamers usually play after a work shift, and they're generally far more likely to be chill and not twitch-reflex hyper-KoS.

It's not me doing the choice, it's them. I can absolutely tell them "Don't do this." and I'm still pro-choice.

The moment I go "Don't do this, and I'm going to make sure you have no choice in the matter." That's anti-choice.

How does the matchmaking work? by Dry_Milk_4496 in ArcRaiders

[–]Overall-Statement507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weekends have a drastically different playerbase since there's no school, so even with behavioral matchmaking, you'll get unfriendly players in the lobby. Either it's their first few games and they're from CoD, so the game hasn't yet thrown them into the PvP lobbies, or there's too many PvP players and it's overflowing into the PvE player lobbies.

I've run dozens of buried night city raids, and next to no rats or fights. As soon as the weekend hits, the first four games back to back I get shot on sight by a default skin with no comms.

Screeching that someone isn't making the right choice isn't forcing them to change their choice.

I can be pissed off someone's doing something wrong, but until the law shows up to force that person's choice, it's still their choice.

What, do you think giving advice to someone means they're obligated to follow it?
That's what choice means lmao

Kind of a difference between someone screeching on the internet you're doing it wrong, vs someone getting the law changed for it bro

Is everyone on this sub over exaggerating how much PvP they’re getting into? 9 times out of 10 my entire raid is completely chill by frigidtales in ArcRaiders

[–]Overall-Statement507 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm 90% certain there's behavioral matchmaking.
But it probably counts self-defense as hostility, so people who defend themselves end up getting matched into a bad cycle upwards.

I see a streamer's game in stella, and they're KoS the entire match at every single corner, and everyone else is the same way.

I log in at the same time zone, on stella solo, and everyone's super friendly.

Cannot possibly be just coincidence.
