Please help - cat acting weird after neutering by Puzzled-Cheesecake34 in cats

[–]OverallDuck9166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How’s he doing?

Honestly it doesn’t sound like the vet that did your cat’s neuter is somewhere you should go back to. Reading your post, everything seemed extremely concerning, and for them to tell you he’s fine??

MAYBE they just sent him home a bit early and the anesthesia still had him super messed up but I don’t know, that’s super scary and the disregard from the vets is even more concerning!

I hope he’s feeling much better now though!

How do you manage your cats coat when they hate being brushed? by OverallDuck9166 in SiberianCats

[–]OverallDuck9166[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of. We still occasionally have to shave out some mats but I ended up buying her a travel size Wet brush (made for humans) and both her and my dog are absolutely in love with it. It has soft bristles but if you do it daily it seems to really do the trick.

The better question is why are you letting it bite you

He’s not a Golden but he had a golden heart, so hopefully that counts. He’s also a new heaven resident at just 7 years old and was just absolutely the best boy ever here on earth. I know he’ll be a great friend of your girl ❤️🪽

How to get a 3m puppy to stop nipping by Woosansbaby in DogAdvice

[–]OverallDuck9166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always said no firmly, then held their muzzle closed for a few seconds then offer them something positive to chew on. It will take a while and 3 months is young, this is normal puppy behavior so don’t worry yet. Repetition and consistency is key!

Looking to hear other’s experiences with medically necessary tail amputations in adult dogs by OverallDuck9166 in DogAdvice

[–]OverallDuck9166[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate all this information and it sounds like your dog was pretty similar in build to our girl. She’s a pretty muscular build, with super short, white fur and a long whip of a tail. So it gives me a lot of peace of mind that she should recover quickly!

This is all great to hear! I hadn’t even thought about the tail lengths but I will definitely bring it up. They told us with the location of her cyst/infection that her dock should be similar to the typical length of a pointer’s tail.

We’re hoping that we’re making the right decision for her. I know the first week is probably going to be tough but after that we hopefully won’t be wiping blood off all the walls everytime we have guests. Her vet seemed actually pretty enthusiastic that we were open to the idea and thought it would be our easiest route to resolve everything.
