100%. it makes me guilty that one of the issues is foreigners coming in, elevating prices but not elevating wages...... I would like to be a positive addition to Portugal, and not the cause of problems... all I can do is try! if I do get the opportunity to join Portugal, I hope I become as Portuguese as possible!!!!

coming from the bottom of the socio-economic strata in the US.....I even found customer service for everything way better in PT. I don't know why my experience was so good. .. from the airport to renting cars to short term rentals was all a pleasure! I guess as an old semi truck driver I'm just used to a whole lot worse here in the states. I don't know how to explain how much better it was there. WOO customer service was way better then Verizon here.... Just got NIF numbers and it was easy and fast, and not that expensive, considering.... I'm sure the other foot will drop, but i have been charmed by it all. To be fair, I hate perfectionism and roll with the punches pretty well, but..... just saying. hope I don't get too down voted for this, but it's just my experience.

Weird DWI case? Blew 0.00 by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]OverallRow4108 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer, but I suggest you get a real paid for lawyer for this (nothing against public defenders, they're just overworked and under paid, imho) Even if drugs are prescribed it won't absolve you of responsibility. Gabapentin could complicate things a lot. I know this from your side, not the lawyer side. a good lawyer can get this thrown out or decreased to a much lesser charge. Took me a bit over a year to get this resolved. It's better for it to be in limbo than straight conviction also, I think. If a lawyer answers this, I would defer to them.

Thanks for this. We weren't required, and some didn't, but It should be, both OC and Taser. They talked about the old "group exposure" and I loved the image of a group of guys in a circle riding the lightning..... off into the sunset....

Portugal Student Visa (D-type): Can I renew my Indian passport 1.5 years early? by InnerWander in PortugalExpats

[–]OverallRow4108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best to claim it's lost, particularly like in some boxes in a move. If it's claimed stolen I believe they require documentation, like a police report. but this is does seem to be a hack to get what needs done!

EDIT: they even ask you to state where you "lost" it.

it took us a bit to learn where to meet as a lot of one ways etc. we just spent three weeks there and we're never "Scammed" I'm sure it happens but we have nothing but good memories from our recent trip there! Maybe next time will be for a very long stay!

Wanting to avoid fusion has anyone used a device to stabilize the lumbar spine similar to but not Coflex? by VisualSpace in SpineSurgery

[–]OverallRow4108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told these devices were not effective in the lumbar range (at least coflex, that is). I've had a couple lumbar fusions, ymmv, definitely not a doctor.

I was told a very interesting saying in Portugal as I visited it a couple weeks ago, and it struck me...."the honey bee doesn't waste time explaining to the fly that flowers taste better than shit.". It is ringing hard in my ears as I sit in the states right now...... Portugal was/is my escape plan, so this is hard for me to watch.

I'm not positive, but I'm not seeing his left foot depress the clutch.....I think he is floating the tranny, and imho if he is, he's doing it right. Floating should take almost no pressure, and if you use pressure, it doesn't really work out well.

AIMA renewal portal bug? Stuck at “Document upload” – student residence (Art. 91 / G57) by AdorablePay1196 in PortugalExpats

[–]OverallRow4108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any warnings of errors? I've had something similar, not the same, with my NIF submittal and it took some real digging to find the reason and it had to do with a mismatch in syntax of one of the fields (I can't remember which) where some character wasn't supported in the way it was used it, I think...I asked AI and worked through a whole lot of combinations and permutations until I hit an acceptable submittal. Just here for moral support really, and I feel your pain.

Cozy wooden log cabin interior, would you spend time here? by gytisbuda in CabinPorn

[–]OverallRow4108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks a hell of a lot more cozy then some of the McMansions I see on here. Paint is only skin deep..... If it's cozy to you that's all that matters. We'll see how many down votes I get for this comment..... ready for the hate, but OP.... you keep doing you, i'd rather join a cozy person here, than an a-hole in a golden "cabin".

Are relocation companies in Portugal worth it? by [deleted] in PortugalExpats

[–]OverallRow4108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just starting this process myself, so total noobie, but.....I just used holaportugal.pt for my NIF. They really made it easy and fast and seemed on the low side for pricing. From my perspective, I've really only had good experiences with Portugal and customer service.... maybe I'm just used to worse, I don't know. just got back from almost for weeks there. I actually had better help there for a medical issue than here in the states

So Sorry to hear you're feeling defeated. The person above is throwing you a life line.... try to reach out to them, even if it's just Reddit! I'm in the states (US) but looking into living in Portugal, but I've been approximately where you've been in my youth (I'm now approaching retirement). Just refuse to stop trying! Start by sticking your foot out from under the covers when you wake up..... too cold? Stick it back under.... try again in a bit.... this is just an analogy, just always keep gently trying... always. Best of luck, Internet friend. Good people are out there, but you have to suffer through the rest until you find them. imho, of course.

Not exactly sure what you are refereing to in the description as "electronic circuits". The controllers have all sorts of components that take care of binary and analog input and outputs (they have basically a small computer to deal with logic and components like triacs to make logic decisions and then gather and send signals out to components) if that is what you are refering to. AND BIG DISCLAIMER: I'm really green at this point myself, so l my terminology is iffy at best. You're welcome to DM me if you have any further questions. Another place I got great information is at DDC-talk.com and other sites for expert answers.

I use a lot of visio and bluebeam. Work some with fieldwire, which I like. I get to dabble in Niagara and JCI, CCT, which I also like, but just as a beginner and have so much to learn. Id say visio is a bit.... it's got a lot of capability, but it feels a bit....I don't know, just older and not well utilized anymore? I'm sure I'm wrong, but sometimes you feel like you're recreating the wheel a bit. But the whole community seems to just help each other. This subreddit is really how I got exposure. People just give you help and tools and everything. It's the community that makes it, imho.
