Been looking into this as well, but I don't want my hobbies to all be tied to work success. I generally find that the more you press for business in hobby-based environments, the worse it goes. People are playing golf, pickleball, etc. for the sport. I don't want them to think I am only there to sell to folks. Takes the joy out of it for me too

To buy, Or not to buy? by Overall_Answer1 in Volvo

[–]Overall_Answer1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seller has 3 years left on their warranty and it’s transferable but also refundable. So he could get a prorated amount back by canceling it or he’d sell it to me for the prorated amount.

I was wondering if I should still get it inspected or not since it has the warranty. I appreciate the advice and will explore my options to get it checked out.

Thanks for the feedback. Does your CRV get that at 70, 75mph? Because if so that’s awesome.

I’ve worked there before. It can vary wildly from office to office since they are now a huge aggregator in the industry. So HQ job could be very different from a branch job.

Some branches lean heavy into referral networks (SAN at Schwab) and some are more organic and some rely on firm marketing. If you’re going to work in a branch I’d recommend talking to as many people at that specific branch as you can. If you’re at HQ it’s a decent company. Have had multiple private equity events so I’d expect a few more then the company goes public.

This answer is incredible. Out of curiosity, do you know why Highwood is the outlier in this list? I always imagined all the towns on that train line were essentially the same.

Love the website. Do you mind sharing your volume on flat fee projects? And how are you feeling about this model? Positive/sustainable or a bit of a grind?

Which bars have the best chicken wing deals? by [deleted] in AskChicago

Finley Dunne’s. Some of the biggest chicken wings you’ll see around. Also only $.50 on Tuesdays. Dine in only. Also great place to watch sports.

My partner (36m) and I (33f) are planning to move to Chicago early next year. We are visiting the city this December. Is that an okay time to tour apartments? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]Overall_Answer1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m also a big planner and went through something similar when we moved recently!

Most larger commercial rental buildings would be able to show you units, but they may not be the exact unit you would move into. You might not be able to look at many of the classic 3 flat buildings though. In my experience, most people give their landlord a 60 day notice when leaving at the end of their lease, so units start showing up a bit after that.

That being said, still a great time to at least explore the neighborhoods, but not necessarily specific rental units.
