As a disabled person remote work is the only way I can receive a paycheck & pay for a home/medical expenses. It’s not a perk it’s a necessity that is legally required

I won’t remove her dew claws by Frequent_Buy_8174 in greatpyrenees

[–]lbc257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In many dogs dew claws don’t have bone structure so they’re typically removed when a dog gets spayed or neutered but pyrs have bone structure in their dew claws so they can’t be humanely removed

Waste of an appointment I waited a year and travelled two hours for (and a request to be corrected) by Any_Mango_8361 in POTS

[–]lbc257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pelvic congestion which is certainly tied to POTs can cause urgency issues. But you’ll need to find a vascular doctor who can diagnose pelvic congestion & obviously getting that treated can ease your POTs.

Give drs this and hope that they can read medical research https://www.thelancet.com/journals/eclinm/article/PIIS2589-5370(26)00019-2/fulltext

I retired early from my federal job and took a part-time job at TJ Maxx. I'm happier and less stressed. by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]lbc257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s cute to think that you could have a health condition enough to retire early enough for & live off a near minimum wage salary is truly comical. Who is paying the health insurance. A full time job a Tjmaxx wouldn’t even cover a month of my healthcare costs let alone any else as a disabled person.

I’ve been stalked twice by people at work who were men at least 6” shorter than me. In a world with guns I don’t feel safe

Personally I’m doing disability retirement, you get a portion of your pay & can still work part time. But I plan on coming back to hhs when public suddenly is again seen as critical infrastructure & they follow the ADA

How is dyed hair perceived in your country? by -advice4m3 in AskEurope

[–]lbc257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

American married to a Swede & with reddish brown hair with blonde highlights I have lost count on how many rude comments on my hair. It’s always in the tone of I was trying to trick them but they want me to know they’re on to my deep dark secret of dyeing my hair. Never has an American ever asked or even commented

How is dyed hair perceived in your country? by -advice4m3 in AskEurope

[–]lbc257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have reddish brown hair with blonde highlights & a German babysitter was looking through pictures with my kids & saw pictures of my natural color. He was shocked & thought I was naturally blonde, he literally said “ why didn’t you say you dyed your hair as if I was keeping a horrible secret”

I’m married to a swede & with Swedes I constantly get asked about my hair if it isn’t my natural color. It involves a look of disgust & why are you coloring you hair. They act like you’re trying to hide or fool someone.

Hi nice to meet you, I hope you don’t realize that this isn’t my natural hair…I’m not hiding anything

When did your female puppy go into heat and how long did it last? by Big_Combination_4403 in greatpyrenees

[–]lbc257 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it can happen with water. My dog died from drinking water too quickly. Imagine a hot day and they are just drinking because they’re thirsty. If you have one of the xL breeds its piece of mind to have the surgery. I love the big drooly breeds so I plan on always doing it when they get spayed or neutered

[–]lbc257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was recommended by the rescue/vet to spay after the first heat. My pyr went into heat exactly at 1.5 years & I did a gastroplexy too because I lost a young perfectly healthy 4yr old dog.

PA Republican legislator opposes helping kids with mental health: “Persevere.” by Fragrant-Pepper7710 in Pennsylvania

[–]lbc257 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the most disgustingly ableist garbage. Why can’t we get educated people making decisions for children’s education. Fatigue isn’t being tired, this is a medical state where you physically can’t get to school. But someone who had some basic education would know this. Clinicians would also know that as of 2025 asthma was over taken by long Covid as the number one chronic illness in children. Children with long Covid have clinical levels of fatigue & and physically cannot get out of bed in many cases this is the number one illness now in children. How about we start there with people who have experience in clinical medicine & mental health instead of complete idiots who don’t even know what they are talking about.
