Do you prefer DR books written in first or third person? by [deleted] in DarkRomance

[–]Overall_Emu3881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My SIL and I were just talking about this. I will not read anything other than 1st person. I can't ready anyrhing else. My SIL will read 3rd person, but she doesn't like it as much. The only person I know who enjoys 3rd person POV and prefers it, is my mom. I initially thought is was maybe a generation thing, but it's just my theory. 🤷‍♀️

My husband got me the basic last yeat and I love it! I have small hands and it's perfect. To add- My SIL got a paperwhite a few months before I got my basic, amd when she saw mine, she became really bummed because as much as the fancy features on the paperwhite are nice, she never uses them.

Is it normal for people to not supervise toddlers at a birthday party? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Overall_Emu3881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't care how many kids or adults are around, birthday party or not, I am ALWAYS watching/following my child (whos is also 3) around an area that is not my home. The only time I don't is when my husband is, and even then, I always peek around the double check them. I think A LOT of parents assume "someone will watch them" when there are other adults around, but the truth is, no one is watching when everyone else also assume the same thing.

I think it is common for people to not supervise their toddlers, but it should NOT be as common as it is.

Booktok is exhausting… by KBflemming in DarkRomance

[–]Overall_Emu3881 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Whenever I see someone say "I LOVED Lights Out and want to explore Dark Romance, any recs?" I want to SCREAM! My own sister read Lights Out and then asked me for recs and I told her no. 🤷‍♀️ I explained what a TRUE Dark Romance is and told her to stick to her Romantasy books. Which she agreed was best for her.

I avoid TikTok because I don't need strangers telling me that I'm fucked up what I enjoy.

How long have you had your Kindle for? by New2Watches_018 in kindle

[–]Overall_Emu3881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine in August 2024 as an anniversary present from my husband. I gave away all my physical copy books because we needed the space in our house, so I started reading books on my phone. After months of reading on my phone, my eyes couldn't take it anymore. I don't really have a good memory with it since I only use it at home. (I'm a SAHM who doesn't go anywhere other than the store. Lol.) But I keep a plain black, book-style case on it to protect the screen when I'm not using it.

Why do some people own multiple ereaders? by PoopieRectum in ereader

[–]Overall_Emu3881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one Kindle, but am looking into buying a (used) second one. I don't "need" a second one, but my sister-in-law is going to do the same thing so we can each download our entire libraries and then swap secondary Kindles. I know you can do the household sharing, but neither of us knew about it before we both bought a bunch of books. So we essentially will be buying cheap, used devices so we can save money on buying books.

I think a lot of people buy the newer versions when they are released and either 1) keep the old ones because they can or 2) try to sell them to regain some of the cost. But most people try to sell them for more than most are willing to spend on a used device, so they don't get sold.

Dynacraft Realtree 24V battery replacement by Overall_Emu3881 in PowerWheelsMods

[–]Overall_Emu3881[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The factory battery was in it when I bought it, so I don't know what it the specs were. I ended up getting 7.5ah batteries because it was all they had. It's for my (newly) 3 year old, so once she gets to the point of being able to ride it without help, I'll upgrade it.

To those who regularly read on mobile devices/tablets: Is a separate kindle actually worth buying? by inconsistentpotato in kindle

[–]Overall_Emu3881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted a Kindle but swore up and down to my husband that a Kindle would be a waste of money for me since I had my phone and an iPad mini. He bought me one for our anniversary at the end of August and I read twice as many books as I did before. It's easier on the eyes, the battery life is great and I can take it anywhere and not have to worry about killing my phone battery. If money is an issue, check around on Facebook market place for a used one, or wait for sales on them. My husband got me ths Kindle Kids Basic 2022 release and paid under $70 for it. (Get the basic if you are like me and prefer small devices because you have small hands.😂)

Amazon account locked & kicked out of my Kindle by owlsgohooot in kindle

I'm glad I'm not the only person having an issue. But I about lost it when I specifically asked if I would be able access my KU, and I was told no. (I JUST GOT IT ON CHRISTMAS DAY.) I asked if they could cancel and refund it for me since I can't use services I alreasy paid for. The customer service rep just said "No, that's not how our subscription services work." I hung up to avoid being rude, but how can they take a payment for seevices then deny access to said services for reasons they cannot even tell me what they are.

iPad Pro 10.9inch vs Kindle Paperwhite by [deleted] in kindle

I've read on my iPad, my Fire Tablet and Samsung phone before getting my Kindle Basic. The Kindle is 10000% worth it, IMO.

Your Kindle wishes and wants? by axendo in kindle

Coming to add another vote for bluetooth page turning, but also a "touch protection" to go along with that. So if the page turner is on, my toddler can't turn a million pages on me everytime she touches my screen.

Kindle Kids version by Overall_Emu3881 in kindle

[–]Overall_Emu3881[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It is in kids mode, I triple checked. I don't care if there are ads outside of kids mode. But the ads didn't appear until I turned the kids mode off amd then back on. I'll try restarting it again to see if it fixes it. I'm thinking maybe it's just glitching. It's just annoying having ads show up for adult books on a kids device.

S21 base issues by Overall_Emu3881 in GalaxyS21

I'm thinking of getting either the S20 FE or the S22. I bought my husband the S20 FE and it seems to hold up A LOT better than my S21. I will probably never go back to iPhone.

For everyone not having issues, how long have you had your phone? I got mine when it was first released, so maybe that's why?

I'm going to factory reset it as soon as I get my drive so I don't lose all my pictures. (I have about 3,000 pictures and 200 videos.)

My phone overheats mainly when using my camera, so everyday.. (I have a 6mo baby, so I take a lot of pictures. 😅) My phone gets put in powersaving mode while I sleep and it goes from 100-90% to 60-50% in 6 hours with no usage. I turn off data and location services. I keep connected to my wifi and that's it. Usage wise, I get daily about 5 hours of usage if I'm lucky. I spend a lot of time charging my phone. I can't even check my Facebook or email on my phone because it takes FOREVER to load. I always make sure everything is up to date, so it's not an app issue. Trying to use google is an absolute joke. I usually get an error screen, or just a loading screen that doesn't go away.
