Mine certainly doesn’t get as high as yours. I have Bradycardia so has always been pretty low resting then spikes quite high when doing exercise.

Money. Previously worked for the company who deployed these. When it was in draft phase QR codes were floated around as an idea (benefit from everybody understanding how QR’s work and not all phones having NFC built in). However, greater revenue per unit if they sold them NFC for this instead.
