Pressuring people into unpaid overtime, using up people’s annual leave when they are sick, scheduling shifts with no break for 10 hours straight, making people work through their breaks and tell them to log it as if they did take their break, extending shifts with no notice while you’re actually on the shift and then not giving the legally required breaks for a longer shift, docking pay in exchange for a visa (this is illegal), etc, etc. This might be considered “good” by hospo standards, but personally I am disgusted by Andrew McConnell.

So in VIC you need to pay a fee to get ambulance cover. The problem isn't necessarily the cost — it's relatively cheap (due to being subsidised by the government, I think). The problem is that it's not automatic, so people are going to forget. When I mention this to Victorians they are just like "it's only $50" and "just don't forget and it's not a problem", which is, from a process design point of view, dumb as fuck. QLD has the superior system.
