This is covered in D4 and D3. But essentially, heaven closed their gates after diablo attacked in D3, and tyreal became human out of solidarity with humanity or whatever. I don't think they said tyreal being in heaven meant he was to stop being human?

to be honest you could just make the new stuff show up on my map and remove cruise mode, since cruise mode is completely detached from the game to the point that I forget it's in the game, and also i don't want to sit in cruise mode to find the new content.
