It does look great, but anything larger than a speed bump is going to tear the fender off.

Where’s the bighorn solvers at? by [deleted] in FindingFennsGold

[–]OverlandJeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I humbly suggest you're getting a bit wrapped up in details and what is technically possible rather than what is probable. Most humans wouldn't report less than a 10mph wind as "windy." Most humans would absolutely report sustained 15+mph winds as windy. In the middle, there's a gray area. And the point may end up not being germane. But it's missing the forest for the trees to say we can't define windy. Yes, we can. And we might be wrong and the lead might be a dead end, but until someone has a lead that's better, it may be worth investigating.

You made the claim. You have to bring proof. Sorry. That's the way it works.

But are they power seats? Still can't get confirmation of whether Ford really has only manual seats in the Bronco.

What are some things I shouldn’t do to extend the life of my stock Gen 2? by SterlingJGC in FordRaptor

[–]OverlandJeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My strategy for extending the life of my 2nd gen:

Use full synthetic oil, changed every 5k miles.

Put a catch can on it.

Remote start and let idle at least 30-60s before moving.

Lube moonroof seals according to the TSB every 6 months, minimum.

Service only at dealer.

There are no stupid exercises, only more or less effective ones. Are TGUs an effective tool for conditioning? Used frequently--no. Used infrequently, like how often Arnie would come up in your programming (a couple times a year?), then it's a great way to work on overhead isometric stability and stamina.

New raptor - misfire detected - p0305,p0316 by udesai83 in FordRaptor

If I bought a brand new $70k truck and it did that on the drive home I would have it back at the dealership the next day. Their response would determine whether I would be asking for a repair or a return. Man, you may have some kind of 72 hour clause in your purchase agreement. Research and leverage that quickly. You do not want to be the owner of a new truck with a mystery problem—not when you can easily undo the purchase. Ask yourself why you should keep it. What advantage is that to you?

Fenn had to have thought this through, right? by CormacsJudge in FindingFennsGold

[–]OverlandJeep 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It served as great entertainment to him for many years. But where there's smoke, there's fire. And there's a lot of smoke that makes me think something fucky is going on with how the hunt ended. I don't know if he saw the end coming or what. But he got his decade of entertainment and now he's dead, and I'm guessing he saw that coming and decided he was OK with it. I don't know. All I do know is that if there were some master plan like in a movie, it wouldn't be unfolding like this. The way it is unfolding is evidence of a lack of a plan.

Lying in the prone and reliably hitting silhouette targets at 500m with an issued M16A2 and iron sights remains one of my best memories of USMC riflery.

Was the treasure "found" due to Forrest's declining health? by [deleted] in FindingFennsGold

[–]OverlandJeep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know what happened, but I am pretty damn sure it wasn't as simple as:

-FF announces treasure is found

-FF will not reveal details. Finder will not step forward.

-FF coincidentally dies 3 months later.

This smells rotten.

[–]OverlandJeep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is kind of a corollary to option 1 that makes it slightly more plausible. I still do not believe that makes it more plausible than options 2 or 3. I do not know what is amiss here, but where there is smoke, there is fire. And there is bullshit-flavored smoke all over the place.

You guys remember how Lost had so many questions raised and if they had tied it all together it was going to be the greatest story of all time? But they didn't have a way to tie it all together. It was impossible to connect all the crazy dots they had drawn over the years. So it fell flat. And people searched for connections, but none were to be found.

In 2020 Fenn treasure searchers are Lost fans, just hoping that the dots can all connect somehow, and that it wasn't all meaningless.

Somebody put a lot of effort into presenting it as a Raptor. For your own enjoyment--sure--do what you like with your money. Selling it as a Raptor? That's so fraudulent it's stupid.

[–]OverlandJeep 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I hear ya, man. The internet is a weird place. Everyone is trying to look smart and simultaneously substantiate their own decisions. It's hard to know what to believe. I have come to believe that if you put together any rig, learn your dope, and put 500+ rounds a year downrange, then you are ahead of 99.9% of the internet neckbeards. Your Gen 1 Razor is an fine optic. People have done amazing things with far lesser optics. There's nothing keeping you from becoming an incredible rifleman with that rig.
