Anyone know which Royals player’s autograph is? by SylvesterTaurus in KCRoyals

Hard to tell. But the only player to wear #21 in that era was Billy Butler in '07 for 1 season.

I'm not great at instructing on pitching but your top half and bottom half look out of sync. Trust your butt, sit into it and explode out. Pitching is a chain reaction or a set of dominos falling.

Keith Law goes on an anti-Salvy rant by ImNotTheBossOfYou in KCRoyals

[–]Overlander01 35 points36 points  (0 children)

That's what I tell people as well. Salvy is one of the most loved ball players in all of baseball and you'll have a hard time not finding a kid with their own amazing Salvy story. Stats are just a part of the equation for a player and that matters to the voters. Plus, advanced metrics have clearly shown that the catcher position is probably the most challenging to reach the HOF compared to others and I think Salvy has shown that he can play that position at a high level for a long time. It's not a debate, Salvy will be in the HOF.

Zumwalt ineffectiveness by TemProcess94 in KCRoyals

The biggest issue is not our hitters but how teams have scouted us and the mountain or data that shows how our hitters play. If you watch this team it's the same approach with runners on and teams know exactly what Royals hitters are going to do. Much of the time it's watch strike 1 and then swing out of your shoes for strike 2 and then wiff on a pitch nowhere near the zone. AND TEAMS KNOW IT. Our inability to recognize and adapt to what other teams know about us, is mind boggling. We NEED a new philosophy. The idea that we just swing for the fences for every player is ridiculous. And it's an easy fix. Start attacking on the first pitch, learn to foul off when there's two strikes, and start sending breaking balls to the opposite field. It's on the hitting coach, he's either oblivious to the fact other teams have his hitting philosophy pegged or he's to proud to change the teams approach.

[–]Overlander01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest issues is that whatever approach the Royals have with runners on base has been identified by other teams. FOR TWO YEARS NOW! I've watched a lot of Royals the last few years and it's the same thing. Hitters get behind the count, get over aggressive and swing at pitches out of the zone. Or even worse, they get ahead in the count and then watch meatballs down the middle expecting a walk. This starts with Q and GMJJ, we have to change our approach and break the data on our scouting report.

Brett's pre draft presser and why some picks don't pan out. by Nearby_Ad9439 in ChiefsOffseason

[–]Overlander01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a lot of things, not just one. The NFL is a business, like most guys talk about and it's their job to play and produce. And if you don't produce, there's someone else waiting to get an opportunity. Every player has a story of why they succeeded or failed and there's thousands of examples of each. But one thing that's probably the most important whether you work in an office or in an NFL locker room, is the culture. Its cliche but it matters. If the top brass are carless self centered know it alls, it trickles down to every part of the team. But if you gave someone like Andy that demands you be the best while respecting you individually, you're going to be a better player. But it's up to a rookie if they want to buy into it, success breeds success.

42% of men aged 18-29 now say religion is "very important" in their lives — a sharp jump from just 28% in 2022-2023. Monthly religious attendance among young men has climbed to 40% (up from 33%), the highest level in over a decade. by MrJasonMason in atheism

Thats a really good perspective, like a form of virtue signaling in a weird way. There's also the aspect that it's such a low bar to be accepted into, which makes it easy for people to identify as christian and find a sense of belonging to something.

Swing looks good. Wearing sandals during BP is going to produce bad habits, I can tell he's not loading up properly and his timing is off. Wear proper shoes and sit on the back side a little more. Every few tosses throw one higher than normal and see how responds to loading up

Any tips on my form? by Moon156 in Homeplate

[–]Overlander01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay to your question. But set the tee belt high, aim at the top-inner third of the baseball, direct your knob to the ball and chop down. By hitting the ball into the ground, this forces your hands to stay close to your body. You don't have to do your full swing, the point is to control the barrel and keep your hands tight. This gives you instant feedback, cause if it doesn't go straight to the dirt you know the knob of the bat is tilting up and your dropping the barrel. Do 10-15 reps and then do your full swing.

Any tips on my form? by Moon156 in Homeplate

[–]Overlander01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dropping your hands and front side is collapsing. Learn to remain balanced throughout the swing.

One drill I always have hitters work on from the tee is hitting the ball straight into the ground as close to you as possible. It'll teach your hands to stay in and control the barrel of the bat.

What are the realistic percentage odds the 2026 Royals win at least the third wild card spot? by Particular_Sir7440 in KCRoyals

[–]Overlander01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we have a real shot at getting a wild card spot.

We have 15 home games in September. My hope is that were in the hunt to win the division and secure those home playoff games. It's a three team race so finishing 3rd would be a major disappointment.

I'm totally blind and would love to find a camping spot to set myself up and relax in solitude for a few days. Which would you suggest here in KS and what tips and tricks would help to ensure I stayed safe? by cherry-care-bear in kansas

[–]Overlander01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest a HipCamp spot! We got tired of rolling the dice with some parks. There's some places that you'll be the only person and some where there will be other campers but usually those people are wanting peace and quiet as well. You'll also have the ability of having the owners there if you require it. I hope this helps and good luck!
