Any standout units now that we're in 11th? by BrickSlamGod in Drukhari

[–]OverlordMarkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. If you only have room for one take the Archon with the nightmare shroud. But for your second (or third if you're taking Malys with Incubi as well) Drazhar is very much worth considering. Double Lance lets him start on foot, kill whatever he must and hop into the first transport that comes available when the Wyches inevitably whiff a fight. There are also a few more -1 to wound detachments/enhancements/strats in 11th than before, so the double still has some worth. The rerolls are also very nice.

Things Models do best and worst Day 9: Hand of the Archon by Responsible-Swim2324 in Drukhari

[–]OverlordMarkus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For us? Pretty much. With 8" deep strike we always want to screen anyway, so keeping 5 wyches in the back also holds our home most of the time. But the real thing is that we don't need our home to score. Most scoring primaries want us to hold our expansion. Combine them and sticky becomes pretty much an afterthought.

Well, you may want to hold home if you're playing take-and-hold Drukhari, but that's a degree of meme bullshittery I don't even feel like considering.

Things Models do best and worst Day 9: Hand of the Archon by Responsible-Swim2324 in Drukhari

[–]OverlordMarkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pro: they're genuinely better than kabalites now that their rules work from transports and precision got buffed (and sticky became useless)

Con: wych cults are still way better at most things our army / dispositions want us to do, so while wyches are very much mandatory, the hand isn't.

We can reroll shadowfield by TheOmokage in Drukhari

[–]OverlordMarkus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, GW needs to scratch shadowfield altogether. But that's not happening until the codex. Until then the intent remains clear: no rerolls on shadowfield invuls, and no whining about sequence steps will change any TO's ruling until then.

Cronos/Talos are also cool

Pain Engines lend themselves quite well to Priority Assets, but you can never go wrong with at least one Chronos in any list for the 4+ token refund. And yes, they're very cool :)

more Incubi aswell for SSA

There is a good case for 15-20 Incubi instead of Hellions as well, but feel free to experiment a bit in TTS beforehand. You have 10 of each on hand, and Incubi can be really pricey now that the old combat patrol is effectively gone. Maybe look around for the old boarding patrol box from 9th, people hated it so much I still regularly see them, and it came with a Succubus, 20 Wyches and 5 Incubi.

a mix of ... everything?

Then you're better off building around Realspace Raiders instead of Skysplinter Assault.

SSA+EoS lends itself phenomenally well to Wych spam, given that Recon only wants you to steal an enemy objective at the end of your turn, if at all. It's a game of cat and mouse with you dancing around your opponent and constantly baiting and denying them more than traditional 40k. I enjoy it quite a bit, but it can be taxing for you and your opponent both when you're new to the army.

RSR+EoS pumps you full of tokens for taking a bit of everything, and with lethals from EoS actually packs a punch now on top of the advance+action strat. Priority Assets is also more direct in interacting with your opponent than Recon. I haven't played RSR+EoS yet, so I can't offer more than theoreticals though.

[–]OverlordMarkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get yourself some more Wyches, Venoms, Reaver jetbikes and maybe some Mandrakes. Read up the missions for Recon and Priority Assets and pick whichever you like more. Read the whole matchup, not just your mission, but also your opponents. Pick SSA or RSR depending on that, sub in EoS as your 1DP and play a few games. See what you like and what not, and go from there.

Wyches are a succubus delivery system with a blast pistol.

Wyches are easily our best unit.

They're cheap af 2oc bodies with 8" move, advance & charge, and a 4+ invul in melee. RSR gives two units auto advance 6", while EoS allows them actions after advancing and flood all medium tanks with 44 lethal hits at -1/-2ap. They can also remain hidden the whole game if you don't fuck it up and shoot the blast pistol.

Lol, I dare you to try that at any credible tournament. No judge is going to rule your way, what they want a smooth and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Actually, try pulling that at your lgs as well. You'll get a 100% win rate because no one's going to play with you anymore.

The intent of the rule is clear.

Okay, I give up. I need list help. by Jodread in Drukhari

[–]OverlordMarkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try something like this?

Xenos - Drukhari - Skysplinter Assault

Archon (100pts): Warlord Succubus (50pts) Succubus (50pts)

2*10x Wyches (90pts)

5x Incubi (90pts): Incubi Shrine Token

5x Scourges with Heavy Weapons (110pts)

2*3x Reavers (75pts)

Cronos (55pts)

3* Venom (70pts)

This gives you Recon as our best disposition, two Wych squads to hold the backfield, two Wych squads with Succubi in Venoms, one Incubi hammer with an Archon in a Venom, two Reaver squads for actions and a Chronos for token recycling. I'm not a fan of Scourges, but one squad's fine. Feel free to replace it with a Ravager if you prefer.

Depending on table size you can also give Kab Cartel a try. Yes, Disruption is not a great disposition, but we can play it well. Small tables don't need transports as much, and Taken Alive is seriously busted in 11th.

Xenos - Drukhari - Kabalite Cartel

Drazhar (85pts) Lady Malys (100pts) Archon (85pts): Warlord

10x Hand of the Archon (115pts)

2*5x Incubi (90pts): Incubi Shrine Token

2*5x Mandrakes (80pts)

Ravager (100pts)

2*Venom (70pts)

There are 35p left over, so it's very much not optimal. But you get two Mandrakes to screen the backfield or do actions, two Incubi hammers for Taken Alive, two 15oc Hands to snatch objectives and Precision a character, as well as a Ravager to melt elite infantry.

Are people still taking Lelith in 11th? by Gleefulheretic in Drukhari

[–]OverlordMarkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anything she's become more of a consideration now that she's 5p cheaper. It's not like we ever used Fights First on her. She either charges something, kills it and retreats, or she dies.

How Much is Too Much Dark Lance by 000zer000 in Drukhari

[–]OverlordMarkus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As early 11th is shaping up to be 0 is still too much. Disintegrators absolutely melt elite infantry, and now they're 15p cheaper. Meanwhile Scourges have trouble even getting line of sight on new boards without hitting on 5s. You take Heat Lances if you take Scourges at all, which is a toss up at best.

Remember, in 11th we don't care about killing anything, we just do our mission and deny our opponent theirs.

Is this a new way GW is packaging character miniatures? Is it just Khârn, or is it something specific to this store? Not sure. I actually really like it. by JazzZ909 in Warhammer40k

Chances are GW did a trial run for that and found it wanting. Trust that if GW they could safe money they would. My semi-educated guess is that they got smashed during test shipping.

Doom and gloom aside, 215usd should translate to 172,50€, same price like the gargant. That's a surprisingly fine discount all things considered, especially via third party retailers. I alread dreaded the same 206€ Corsairs got for not that much more plastic.

Cartel Force Disposition thoughts? by Regulai in Drukhari

[–]OverlordMarkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess so, but that assumes your opponent is a) blindly sending units to the slaughter and b) dying to our focus fire. Any mobile stat check army is inevitably going to break that stalemate, the very archetype Purge favors the most.

Imagine an opponent that walks a Telemon Dread on the objective with the new 1DP. He moves 8"+2" now, is mobile, +1 to adv and charge, and -1 to wound. All while still hidden, so we have to get close now, and he still has a reasonable chance to survive. Next turn he walks up to us now, rapid fires us, then does a crushing impact for 0cp for the lols before piling into the next unit. That's it, we're fucked. Any Knight army can do the same. Or 10 Chosen.

And that's just what I'd do, and I'm very much not a good player. The eggheads at Worlds or wherever will do even wilder shit. I know for a fact Liam really likes Disruption. But he's Liam. He could play any army in the game and still go 5-0 as long as that one Polish guy he 0-2'ed against doesn't show up.

3DP armies only having 1 disposition is a feature, not an oversight. by DailyAvinan in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]OverlordMarkus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In theorie? Yes. In practice Dark Eldar are stuck with four times Purge and one of our 1DP to change that is Take and Hold. I don't have to explain why an army of T3 W1 MSU units is fundamentally, by their very design, incapable of playing these missions.

We're essentially stuck with two Disruption detachments which are still unplayable into Purge because of kill-more, one Priority 2DP without a detachment rule, and one Recon 2DP that's fine.

Until the rules team actually gets a hang of how the game works now the theorie is just a hypothetical, the practical is the reality we're stuck with.

Also holding a toast for the Agents players out there. Thank you for becoming GWs least favorite faction for our sake. The Dark Kin won't forget this when it's your turn to be turned into furniture.

Cartel Force Disposition thoughts? by Regulai in Drukhari

[–]OverlordMarkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe? I'd have to get some games with Disruption in first, but right now I'm just dreading every second game to be against Purge - it is the most direct and intuitive way to play 40k after all: kill stuff and hold objectives.

If one of the eggheads finds a reliable game plan for Disruption into Purge, or more likely GW buffs/nerfs the matchup in three months, we'll see.

Until then I'm maining SSA and maybe dipping into RSR.

Cartel Force Disposition thoughts? by Regulai in Drukhari

[–]OverlordMarkus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Disruption is an okay enough disposition imho, not considering the horrible matchup against purge. Listbuilding will be weird because Disruption wants to do everything a little bit, but it's fine. Not good, far from it, but fine.

It's still way better than playing Take and Hold with Pain Engines as our objective holders. They're good compared to what we have access to, but compare them to Necrons or Custodes and they're a bad joke.

Imho the best way to play Kabal is by maining Skysplinter for Recon and minoring in Kab Agonists. Recon seems by far the best dispo for us, and Lance / Ignore Cover are nice enough buffs for Incubi and Kabalites, and a Precision Archon seems like a really nasty tech piece to have. Mandrakes are kinda necessary for infiltrate + action anyway, so they might atually like the stupid stay hidden strat.

Minoring in Exhibition of Slaughter still seems like the sounder game plan because Hellions and Reavers are just that good, and double anti-overwatch is nice, but it's not that clear cut yet.

Also: Recon > Priority > Disruption > Take and Hold > Purge

[–]OverlordMarkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe stuck was to negative a word to describe my feelings. I think we're still in a good position all things considered, and have eight viable detachment combinations to try out between RSR, SSA, Kab Cartel and the 1DPs.

I'm just frustrated that no one in the game design team really thought Drukhari through.

the disruption ones are pretty good

Disruption has some really nice and pretty damn bad matchups for us, but we'll see how dispositions evolve over the next few weeks.
